Blown away by the quality for the price.
I had forgotten just how cheap electronic stuff has become. This is a really nice, heavy duty meter. And, I should know... I was an Electronics Technician in the Navy. It's not quite a Simpson 260, but it is impressively close. I am blown away.by the quality for the price.

This analog meter seems to give a more accurate reading when working with the 6 volt generators.

    Gardner Bender GMT-319 Analog Multimeter
It's an AC/DC meter "Analog" which means small coils point the needle on the scale. I have had digital meters and they fluctuate led numbers spinning up/down and once a great while they actually stabilize. It's no wonder they're all "ON SALE" which tends to speak for itself aye? (reduced junk)

    A Note Of Caution
I loved this meter. BUT, I messed up and spoiled it the first thing. I have ordered another one. Here is what happened. I intended to mark the indicator end of the knob with white paint because it does not stand out, especially in low light. Because I did not do it the first thing, I damaged the meter. I was going to test with AC house voltage and the meter switch was inadvertently set to measure 50 milliamps DC current. (That setting is 180 degrees from 250 Volt AC). I plugged the probes into a power receptacle and the rest is history if you know what I mean. By the way, the two fuses inside are still good. I recommend that you paint the indicator end the first thing. I opened the meter to expose the inside PC board. With my micro capture pro, it looks like I damaged R2 and R 8, plus I suspect 2 SMT diodes are "open." That's not all. The two switch contact pieces fell out when I removed the board. (They fit in either direction, so I don't understand why they never secured those. I'm still not positive of which direction each one fits. I'll keep this one for parts. The new meter movement and test leads alone are valuable replacements. Also the plastic housing. A five star rating is pending after I really get to use my new identical replacement.

nice meter- except for the continuity alarm
I wanted a muti-meter that when testing continuity it would make a sound. I have another, cheaper, smaller meter with less ranges that does this well. This meter does have a buzzer but the sound is so faint that it is hard to hear if you are in a construction site that might have radios etc. so to use this you need to turn off all radios and stop all other noise (like from a gas electricity generator in the back yard). I used it the first time a few days ago to test a front door bell issue and had difficultly determining if the wire was good or not as I could not clearly hear the meter with all the background noise. My other meter does not have this issue – when there is continuity it sounds off. Also disappointing is that the meter does not move if there is continuity – so even though it was difficult for me to see the meter, it gave no visual information about continuity when set on sound. Again, my smaller, cheaper, less range meter not only gives loud sound but the meter moves to maximum range. I could flip the switch on this meter to resistance measuring and it would then give me visual confirmation of continuity – but without sound. This is the only disappointing item I found with this meter. It has good ranges, is sturdy and priced well. Replacement batteries are inexpensive aaa batteries that you can buy anywhere so this avoids expensive replacement batteries and possible long waits to special order them. This also has a mirrored meter so you can improve accuracy of your readings. It just did not do what I needed it to do to check continuity with sound. If not this issue I would have rated it 5 stars taking in the reasonable price
