Wow!
I'm glad I waited to buy the series. This is the perfect package for any fan of the original cast. The discs are in beautiful HD with original and updated effects of the episodes. The animated series and movies are a big plus as well. The packaging goes beyond most sets that you would have to pay hundreds for online of similar sets. Luckily I got mine for under $80 new in mint condition.

Major flaw. Buy at your own risk.
POSITIVES The show (what I've watched so far on disc one) has great picture quality and sound. Good value for money at the current price (around 65 bucks). NEGATIVES The insignia that comes with it was loose in the box, rather than being adequately situated. The disc stalled at one point. I couldn't recreate it by replaying the same section again, but it does leave me concerned about any issues possibly present on the other discs. There is an ugly camera icon that pops up in the upper right corner every time the scene changes. This was supposedly related to the function that allows you to change between old and new visuals, but it instead becomes an eyesore that takes you totally out of the experience and charm of watching the show. Impossible for me to continue watching with this thing popping up all the time. Don't know how so many other people left perfect reviews. There isn't even an option to turn it off. For this issue alone, I've dropped the overall rating by three stars, and I think that's understating its effect on the viewing experience.

    Space...the final frontier <3 .
    I bought the Star Trek 50th Anniversary box set as a birthday gift to myself, and I cannot wait to wait the Original Series. The box set itself looks amazing (over-sized inner box, with a slipcover) and I love all the disc art. I am looking forward to watching all the episodes and the movies!
