What on earth was I thinking?
After 60 years as a ham radio operator, what the heck led me to believe I could buy this product at such a low price!? Within 30 minutes after it arrived, it was in the trash can. First, the batteries would not fit into the holder, and in the process of forcing them in, the little tabs that secure the cover broke off. When I finally got them in place the LCD display didn't work. This is a new low in Chinese quality, and I would not even dignify it as a product by shipping it back.
