Marvelous air conditioner!
The LG LW6017R (6000 BTU with Remote) is a marvelous window air conditioner! This product arrived less than 48 hours after I ordered it. I'm a 5 foot tall woman in my 60s, and I had no problems lifting, assembling, or installing the unit. Assembly took maybe 20 minutes, but to be honest, I skipped the last few steps which were for the window frame and, as far as I'm concerned, were not necessary for my use. As soon as assembly was finished, I put the unit on the window sill, screwed the curtain panels to the window, plugged it in, turned it on, and enjoyed the quickly cooled air. The bedroom in which I'm using it is 12x13, and this air conditioner cools that room in no more than 15 minutes if that. It's powerful but quiet, and the remote is super easy to use. The main reason I chose this LG is that it's almost exactly the same as the Goldstar air conditioner my mother and I purchased from Walmart in 2004; the only differences are the brand and the Goldstar is 5000 BTU. The Goldstar is still working and easily cools the front of the house which is an open concept living room and kitchen. But in other words, the LG 6000 BTU could easily cool bigger rooms, and if it's the same as the Goldstar, it should last for years! Anyway, I'm extremely pleased with this marvelous LG air conditioner, and I highly recommend it!

LG and walmart take note bad item
do not purchase this item. unless i was unfortunate enough to get a lemon, this is a terrible so called ac. i am handicapped and had to pay someone to come to my home and put this in. when put on there seemed to be no cool air. i have tried several times. but luke warm air and i have no options to return because would have to pay againto have someone take it out, pack it and return it, at 75, crippled and on ss there is no monies for all of this

This unit is supposed to be quiet and it relatively is until it starts to cool. Nothing inside could be making that noise except for the compressor. Returning for a different model.Missy

I'm sure it could handle a room twice this size. It is a bit loud on this small space but it's not a harsh sound. I put foam curtains ( inside facing the room) on both sides because it helps with insulation.DarlynOzzy

LG support was good about sending new curtains to resolve. But the new ones are the same length. I put foam I to fill the window. Not a happy customer.Nanlit

I bought this because I was using an older Frigidaire which had a variance of about 6° between high and low temperatures. If I said it at 73° it would go between 70 and 76 and you can feel those differences. Not comfortable. This is accurate within 1°. Amazing - just set it at 72 and it stays at 72. It tests the air every three minutes on the economy setting and if you need to have the compressor it turns it on automatically. There are no negatives. It's a compact light weight excellent cooler and quiet. It does protrude into the room in front of the window a little bit maybe 3 1/2 inches which is really no problem but perhaps some people would like it to be flush with the window sill. Nevertheless it's an excellent value. LG products are incredibly durable and trust worthy. This is a five star product for sure!Smithcover 13
