Excellent product and easy to install
Don't know why a product like this wasn't available the first time I bought CO detectors years ago, but it makes sense that they could be plugged in to an existing electrical outlet and have a back-up battery in case the power goes out. The only thing that I think would improve such a product is if it had a ten-year sealed lithium back-up battery installed in it. But, since they are plugged in so low to the floor, replacing the batteries is not much of an inconvenience. This is a definite improvement over the battery-only kind of unit. I think this new unit provides increased peace of mind.

Dog and Animal Owner Alert! You don't want these!!
DOG/ANIMAL OWNERS ALERT!!!! OK, this may be a perfectly fine CO detector that will last the 10 claimed years alerting you to CO dangers. HOWEVER, THERE IS A SERIOUS FLAW FOR ANIMAL--PARTICULARLY DOG--OWNERS. THESE UNITS MUST EMIT SOME KIND OF HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND THAT NOT ONLY GOT MY DOG'S ATTENTION, BUT TERRIFIED HER IMMEDIATELY! When I pulled the little strips out to positively connect the backup batteries, I saw her start behaving strangely. There was no calming her down as she sat seeming to see something scary that wasn't even there and salivate profusely. As soon as I replaced the strips to prevent battery connection, she calmed down after about 15 minutes. There was one other review that mentioned this but I thought, it might have been a fluke and ordered the units anyway. Now I'm returning them. If you have no pets, you will probably be pleased with these units. KIDDE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS SINCE MINE IS NOT THE FIRST COMPLAINT OF THIS NATURE.

    Love the convenience and reliability
Plug-ins are my favorite type of alarm. I like not having to constantly replace batteries, or wondering if a battery is going to be winding down just as the device will be called into action.

    So Far, So Good
I plugged this into an outlet in the basement because the gas boiler is in the basement. Easy to read and understand explanation of the product. I feel that it is a good-quality product, and that thought makes me feel more secure. It definitely doesn't feel like a flimsy, cheapo toy. It's had no false alarms, and it's easy to distinguish the constant green "ok" light from any red warning light that would show in case of any danger. My mind is definitely at ease when I go about my business in the basement and see it there.

    Simple, easy, must have
Backup batteries included, super simple to test and just plug in! This replaces an old one we had. Dont forget these things expire replace your old ones, this one is 10 years after installing. Theres really no way I can personally test it with Carbon monoxide, but I definitely feel safer with our fireplace. I ordered from Walmart.com and they delivered it to my house in the country few hours later. Originally said it would be days to ship. Thats service!

Quickest Option for Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Couldn't be any quicker to install. You just add batteries for backup purposes and then plug it into an outlet within five feet of an entry door to a room. That is what our inspector told us was needed. Nothing to hardwire in or install from the ceiling.

Lower is better for CO detectors! Get this one!
Extremely easy install and loud decibel alarm when tested. I like that we have a CO alarm that is low to the floor, since CO gas sinks (heavier than breathable air)! We felt like this would be a better/safer choice than having a combo detector in the ceiling.

The importance of carbon monoxide alarms
We all know how important smoke detectors are in our homes. But carbon monoxide alarms are just as important. One thing that makes carbon monoxide poisoning so dangerous is that it is a deadly odorless, colorless gas. This alarm was basically just "plug and play". You just plug it in and it works, testing for carbon monoxide immediately. It has a small green light that lets you know that it is working and that no carbon dioxide has been detected.
