Reliable
I bought this meter years ago. I am an Industrial Electrician and automation specialist and use this meter everyday. It's actually my go to meter for what I do. I used to carry a clamp meter by fluke and it works great but the 117 for what I do is more fitting for the job. This meter does everything I need. If this meter doesn't do something it's reading milliamps unfortunately. But I break out my 87 for that which I usually use on my more intricate stuff anyway. The 117 is the 10-in-1 screwdriver of meters for me. I covers a broad spectrum of capabilities in my field and I love mine. Great investment.

Fluke quality but missing features
Fluke makes arguably the highest quality multimeters you can buy. But it's unfortunate they choose to remove features from more expensive models. The Fluke 116 and 115, for example, both have features the 117 lacks. Why? It would probably cost Fluke an extra dollar or two to put ALL the features of the 11X series into the 117 (or create a 118 that has all features). It's almost as if Fluke wants you to buy multiple meters for different tasks when one meter could easily do everything. I don't have a problem with a product line optimized for electronics, another for automotive, and a third for electricians. But here we have one confusing product line with a mish-mash of almost random features. The Fluke multimeter comparison on the website is also wrong and missing data. For example, it shows "n/a" under DC and AC current for the 117 which is incorrect. That's just one of many such errors making an already confusing situation more confusing. Fluke is great at engineering high quality meters but the products are inconsistent, confusing, and the features often seem poorly thought out. Fluke also has inexplicably discontinued, at least in North America, several multimeters that offer more features and performance per dollar than their current offerings. Why? The Fluke 87, 15B, and several others, were legendary great meters. Fluke's marketing choices are beyond disappointing as they no longer offer ANY full featured reasonably priced multimeters. Every current model in North America is either missing one or more key features you can find in even very inexpensive competitive products or it's so expensive (like the 289) you could literally buy a dozen similarly featured competitive meters.

If you like quality buy Fluke.
Best meter I have ever used, quality made, the test leads are super high quality feel very nice. Lots of different test settings for a lower end meter, comes with battery already installed. LCD read out is nice and large easy to see. Very fast response time when testing.

    accurate all the time
I've had cheaper multi meters all my life. I'm 67 now and finally bought a 113/RL for home and a 117 for my son and I, it assuring that when I need to use it it's always accurate. i don't have to wonder if my readings are correct. With electrical issues in heavy commercial trucks its saves me time and money. Thanks Fluke

    Solid
This is the most durable feeling meter I have ever owned. The auto sensing feature is worth the investment alone.

Great Meter for Electricians and DIYer's
I purchased the 117 based on reviews and the Fluke reputation; it is my third digital multimeter and second Fluke (the other is a clamp DMM I use mostly for testing amperage). Despite the ambiguous complaints posted by others, this is a solid multimeter. The large 6,000 count display makes the meter easy-to-read and understand; as long as you are looking directly at the screen. My only (minor) complaint is if the screen is looked at - even slightly - from above, the digits disappear, but for me this is only a minor inconvenience. The meter feels solid and robust in the hands and not easily damaged. The non-contact voltage sensor is very sensitive, especially when set to "HI", which makes it ideal when checking for electrical wires inside of walls. I have zero "buyer's remorse" and will use this meter for a long time.

    My favorite meter!
I've owned several Fluke meters and products over the years and the 117 is by far my favorite. All the functions I need daily, plus a few others that come in handy. Super sturdy and the blue back light on screen helps to keep the display readings sharp in the dark. I like the no contact volt alert for a quick troubleshoot and helps keep my bag lighter since I don't have to bring more than 1 meter to get the job done.
