Great little charger
This is a small, lightweight charger that offers good features . I have an old pickup that I drive maybe twice a month. I use this to keep the battery ready to go. I've also used it on my lawn mower. It really does the job. A light will tell you if you have crossed the wires and another will blink while charging or stay full on when the charge is complete. A switch changes the output to 6 or 12 volts at 3 amps. That is enough power to bring most batteries back to life or maintain a good battery. The power cord is about six feet long as are the positive and negative leads. Long enough for most applications. It has small tabs with holes that will allow mounting to a vertical or horizontal surface. The instructions are very clear and cover all the safety precautions. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it.

Great unit to keep a large battery charged.
First off, if you're looking for something that will jump start a dead car, this is not the item for you. This is a trickle charger / maintainer. It's purpose is to keep batteries on tractors, boats, RVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, lawn mowers, old trucks, rarely used cars...things that aren't used every couple of weeks... charged and ready. Most of the inexpensive battery maintainers are 1, 1.5, MAYBE 2 amps. This one is 3 amps, so it CAN be used to charge a dead battery on a bike or mower if needed, but it'll take a few hours. Compared to some other maintainers that I have - even the "higher end" brands - this one is pretty substantial. Seems well built and heavy duty, a really good item for the price. They do need to update the description though. This is directly wired to two clamps. There is no quick disconnect, and there are no ring connectors. I ordered this unit expecting to use it as the maintainer on my Harley, and relegate my 1.5 amp Battery Tender to my lawn mower. Unfortunately, that's not going to work because I can't use the quick disconnect unless I want to buy a pigtail and do some cutting and splicing. I'm not a big fan of taking my motorcycle seat on and off to hook clamps onto the battery, so I guess I will use this for other purposes. It's really overkill for a 10.5 HP lawnmower battery...it's probably more suited to keeping a car/truck, tractor, a big bike or even an RV charged up. I attached it to the fully charged battery on my little Poulan rear-engine rider, and it didn't do anything. Not sure if it couldn't detect the tiny battery (it's literally the same size as the one that serves as a backup to my house alarm; about the size of two cigarette packs) or somehow knew that the battery was fully charged and decided not to bother. I then hooked it up to a spare AGM, 325 CCA motorcycle battery that was reading about 11 volts, it did the steady green flashing light thing as it charged, and after about two and a half hours, it went solid green, indicating that it was going into float mode. I checked the voltage on the battery and it was 14.2 volts, which is just about the perfect voltage to go into float mode. I've seen maintainers that cost over twice as much as this one that don't have the same amperage and the same features. There is a slider that is used to select 6 or 12 volts, but if you don't know whether your battery is 6 or 12 volts, you really don't have any business hooking up a charger to anything. If you need a jump starter or a battery charger to jump off dead batteries because you tend to leave your lights on all night, this isn't your jam. If you need something to keep a medium to large battery charged and maintained, and can do without the quick disconnect, I can't see that there would be much better out there than this one. I would say that this would be perfect if you live in a cold climate and have a borderline battery that struggles in the mornings, but the lack of a quick disconnect would mean that you'd have to open your hood to connect and disconnect it every night. If you're okay with doing that, 3 amps overnight will certainly keep a battery warm and charged.

    Very nice quality charger
I use this charger to charge up my 2011 Suzuki burgman 650. I own two other chargers also because I have multiple sport bikes. The one thing I really like about this charger is the quality of the material and the size of it. Some of my other chargers are very large but then again they also can charge large batteries and cars. I put a brand new battery in my Suzuki so every time I went to use this it was always green because the battery has not been losing a charge at all. So just based on the quality of the material I would highly recommend this charger.

    Works pretty good!
My stepdad and I have been refurbishing an old Chevy for a couple years now, and it doesn't get much use each month. So a problem we've been having, is with the battery sitting there for so long between each use, that it seems to go “dead.” Wanted to give this a try, to help us out between uses. Plugged it in into the battery, left it overnight and presto— battery good as new. Every time we are planning to take the truck out now, we just plug this in and the truck is ready to go by morning!

    perfect for winter
you need one of these if you live in an area that gets below freezing in winter. Use it on a lawnmower, motorcycle, truck, anything with a battery. It will keep them from going bad, and will help you start them. You can switch between 6v and 12v, which is good if you have an older tractor with a 6v battery one it. It works great, and I would highly recommend.

    Great product!!!
I Love this charger!!! It works great. I have two deep cycle batteries and it charged both of them up perfectly. I am going to use it for my lawnmowers also. I Love it so much that I will probably be buying one or two more of them. Very Very good item. Love it!!!

    Excellent battery charger/battery maintainer
I love my Everstart Maxx 3 battery charger and maintainer. I love the compact design and how simple it is to use. It's small enough to carry around in your car but the best thing about its design is that it's mountable to your garage wall or any place that's convenient for you. I mounted mine in my garage close to an electric outlet that is close to the front of my car. There is plenty of reach in the cables so you have many options on where and how you mount it or just keep it handy in your car since it doesn't take up much space. Using it is very simple, it's on/off button is large and charging lights well laid out and the instructions are easy to follow so that even the most novice car owner will feel comfortable using it. The battery clamps hold very well and overall construction of the Everstart Maxx is excellent so I have no worries leaving it unattended while it charges and maintains my battery. And when I'm done, I just wrap up the cables and hang on the garage wall until needed again or if I need to help out a neighbor or friend, I can easily unmount it and take it with me. You can't go wrong with the Everstart Maxx 3.

    Works fine, Cheap looking clamps
So far it has been working well to top off my 6 volt lantern battery and maintain my 12 volt deep cycle gel battery. Great that it has reverse connection protection in case my significant other makes a mistake even though the clamps have + and - signs on them. The clamps have good spring tension but have short grips. The red and black thin rubber coating on the clamps are longer than the flat metal underneath. It appears the clamps are manufactured so the wire can be crimped to either side of the clamp hence speeding up production since the worker does not have to think about which side the wire gets crimped on. Or I could be wrong and they just cut corners. The wires are 18AWG and are rated to 221 Degrees. Nice that it has two mounting holes in case you wish to mount it on a wall or your work bench.

Keeping my Generator ready and charged.
Currently have this sitting on my Briggs and Straton Generator keeping my Electric start battery charged. Most Battery maintainers have .75A to 1.25A Output which is enough to get the job done but will take awhile to fully charge if severely depleted, This charger states a 12v/6v 3A output. I have no way of testing but i got solid green light stating full charge, 15 minutes after connecting to my generator battery. The power cable, charging unit and charging clamps are all one piece. This does not come with a separate wire harness for permanent installation and quick disconnect. The Body of the charger looks identical to a black and decker charger i have being used on my quad, However this unit is stronger at 3A and does not feature quick disconnect.

    great little light duty charger
I got this to serve as a battery maintainer for my riding lawn mower. Since it sits unused during the winter, the battery goes flat and that's not good for it. I figured since this is only a 3 amp charger, it would work well for that type of duty but maybe not so much as a regular battery charger. Well I was wrong about that, it works great as a battery charger and charges much faster/better than anticipated, given it's low amperage. I have a car that doesn't get driven every day, and when I went to start it yesterday, the battery was about dead and it wouldn't turn over. I have an old 8 amp charger that I normally use, so I hooked it up and plugged it in. Four hours later, I went back to the car...and it hadn't charged at all; it still wouldn't turn over. I grabbed the Everstart MAXX that I just received from Walmart, and hooked it up. I figured it would take seven or eight hours to charge, since it's only 3 amps. Well an hour and a half later, my battery was charged and the car started right up! So don't be fooled by the low 3 amp rating on this; it works great and I would recommend it for any occasional or light use.
