Awesome Portable AC!
This unit works very well! The dual hose is the way to go. The operation is far superior to a single hose unit. It cools the room very quickly. I'm loving it!

Works well, but has design flaws
First, let me say this does a good job for its main function, I.e.; cooling a fairly large area. We have it set up in a dining room that has large doorways leading to kitchen, living room and family room, and with ceiling fans helping to circulate the air, it definitely helps cool off the first floor. That's the pro. Here are the cons: 1) technically it is portable, but only insofar as you can roll it from room to room. Forget being able to take it up and down stairs. It's quite large and bulky, and weighs more than the average person can carry alone. Additionally, you have to be able to place giant vent tubing in a window, so you need a combination of window that opens to accommodate vent panel, a grounded outlet near the window, and a clear space for the cold air to circulate. 2) venting is awkward. There are two vents (air intake and exhaust), each one extends about 6 feet. While they are flexible, they have limitations and add to the bulk of the unit. Also, even though they are supposed to thread onto the end pieces that attach to the unit, they tend to pop off if you move it around or adjust the tubing. 3) window plate that attaches to vents lacks flexibility. The unit comes with a rectangular sturdy plastic frame that you place in the window for ventilation. There is also a smaller plastic piece that slides into the frame to adjust the width to fit different window sizes. Except it's not long enough to accommodate wider windows, and to adjust for narrower windows it has to be cut down with a saw. If you cut it down, you're screwed if you want to move the unit to a wider window. And if you have a window that slides horizontally or a crank out style, foggedaboutit. The window plate should have come with the type of flexible accordion panels that most a/c units have. As it stands, we've had to jury-rig the opening using duct tape and cardboard. 4) control panel: you get a nifty little remote control with digital readout to adjust your settings, which works great! But don't lose it, because the unit itself only has a power switch and button to turn off the bright blue lights that burn into your dreams while you sleep unless you turn them off. 5) moisture collection drain valve: according to the manual, the unit isn't really designed to use in high humidity environments. What?? Didn't find that out until the unit shut down and we read that the moisture collection pan was full. Ok, Only one problem: the drain plug is only about an inch above the base of the unit, so finding something that can catch the water and fits under the plug is a challenge. Or you can attach a hose… To sum up: the unit works well and cools a fairly large area, but for the cost, hassle and bulkiness of attacking vents, you could probably buy two window units that work just as well and take less time to install.

Defective refurb unit, but no hassle refund.
This was a refurbished unit(that turned out to be defective) not a new unit as advertised. Return was handled by Walmart excellently though.

works well well, remote is junk
I bought this unit a year ago and it has worked like a champion. I literally have zero complaints with its function or its settings its perfect for what I needed. But the cheap little remote that controls everything is a different story. Initially it had a nice little led screen that lit up and showed you what it was doing. By the end of last summer it just had a little lcd screen that lit up. It no longer showed anything on the display, so you can't tell what mode you're in or anything. You can pretty much tell the fan mode by volume and the actual mode by looking at the unit, but for me the most important mode is the thermostat that I set when I go to sleep. Without being able to see the display you just kinda set a temperature blindly and hope it works. I've tried changing batteries and then even went and bought special high discharge batteries to see if that would fix it, but it appears to be a problem with the remote not the batteries.

    Duly Impressed
I picked up multiple units as a replacement for 20-year-old window units, and the difference is night and day. Praise-wise, it's aesthetically pleasing. It's surprisingly quiet, no louder than the fridge. It came with a dust cover, which is just classy on Whynter's part. Assembly was a snap...literally. With the experience of doing it twice now, I'm confident that I could have another unit assembled in less than 5 minutes, and installed in about the same, there's really nothing to it. Lugging the unit up and down stairs...and chucking it over a very high tub surround to drain...were easier than I was expecting for a 65lb [30kg] unit, the weight balance / center of gravity placement is thoughtfully done. Feature-wise, my two wishes would be for the remote control unit to show measured temperature in addition to target temperature, and for a mode that switches between Cooling and Dehumidifying as is warranted by temperature, as here in the US Northeast it doesn't stop being swampy just because the room is a tolerable temperature. Putting a thermometer in the room with the unit, and switching it manually between cooling/dehumidifying isn't a big deal, it'd just be a minor Quality of Life thing to not have to manage those things manually. Complaint-wise, I'm not a fan of the window kit. It's too thick to slot into the track of my windows so isn't super secure, the screws that clamp the sliding adjustment piece are super easy to strip, and the extension bit being shorter than the main bit meant some pretty big air gaps. It wasn't anything a couple wood screws and some well-placed painter's tape couldn't fix, but for the price of the unit I was hoping it'd seal at least as well as the cheap window unit it replaced. One thing about the manual that isn't clear is "Ambient Temperature", which governs both the Cooling Mode and the Automatic Mode. It never specifies whether that's for the room itself, or measuring the air coming in through the intake port...somewhat important, as Cooling Mode will stop running the compressor within 5* of ambient to reduce wear/tear, and Automatic Mode gives the owner no control over target temperature [instead basing it on Ambient]. All in all, it's been 24 hours and I'm pleased. Depending on what it does to my energy costs, if I can't sort out the 'cool air to the other side of the house' issue with fans, I would happily consider a third unit to make sure the cooling is distributed more evenly. The box says the 11k model is only good for 350 sqft, but I have a pair of them working 1300sqft of house in 90-degree weather and they're handling it like a couple of champs.

Excellent quality at a great price!
I absolutely love my Whitner 11,000 BTU dual hose portable AC! It cools my large place quickly and efficiently. I have had no problems with it at all. It is very effective and rather quiet compared to other ACs I've had in the past. It is easy to install. It also has a lot of different options, in terms of temperature, fan, & speed.... Again, overall it is excellent quality for a great price! I would recommend this to my best friends and family members.

Cools nicely and easy to install
This is the 2nd one of these units that we own. They work well, and are easy to install. The only negative is the vibration noise, (especially on a hard wood floor) we put a small rug under the unit and it did help lessen the noise.
