Easy to Transfer
I like the size of the WD it wasn't that big or heavy so easy to store in my room. The product was easy to set up and to install to my computer. Transferring file from my computer to the WD was quick and easy. Having 4TB was great can save more photos, pictures and movies.

Does not connect to home network. I received a link from WD saying the new drives replace my older mybook and they gave an incentive to purchase. This on was one of the recommended drives. Once I received, I realized there was no way to connect it to my home network. So it is a paperweight.

    Dead after a week
    Mounted the drive twice to load data, now it won't power up. I reached out to support and I don't even think they bothered to read the description of the problem. I got a lengthy reply about troubleshooting USB connections and running utilities, none of which I can do when the thing doesn't power up. I initiated an RMA and found the return process less than intuitive (to be kind). Of course, they require an anti-static bag to return this DOA hard drive, so I had to spend time and money buying those. This was the 6th Western Digital drive that I have purchased, but I guess I need to re-think that. Maybe I should have paid attention to other reviews that have noted a quality decline with WD products.

    Great/Perfect Media Storage at a fair price.
    I am very pleased with my 4TB hard drive. I had worked as a private school teacher for about twenty years, so I had accumulated a great deal of educational materials along the way - including audio courses, an extensive Ebook library, and obviously video and music. The 4TB disk is my storage library - allowing me to retrieve and/or share materials with others at lightning speed - while leaving my 1TB hard disk freed for routine, daily business. I highly recommend this product. And when it fills, buy another and lay it alongside. But most folks would probably not need more than 4TB to store their media.

    WD End of Life Support - Inconvenience
    Thought this would be the replacement needed, after WD discontinued it's support. But, alas, not the case. Full refund once sent back, but do longer the "end of support" discount. Will need to find another cloud-based upload.

    12TB is Huge But Spinning Drive Is Loud
    This is a great drive if you don't mind a lot of noise and vibration, or if you can keep it far away from your desk. It turned out to be unusable for me, it vibrated my whole desk all day and was quite noisy. I've been spoiled by a completely silent computer since Apple Silicon, I guess I can't use spinning drives any more.

    Even with a Mac, a plug and play. Works flawlessly. Second WD drive I have bought. Only reason why I bought it is the first one is older than Moses, and started not working reliably, and it is not supported by WD any longer. I am confident this one too will last a long time with faithful service.

    Perfect Out of the Box
    Needed to upgrade to the newer version and the My Book was the choice and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Did have to set the unit on a cushion since the drive movement echoed enough to be noticeable.

    Short life. Won't buy WD again.
    Hard drive was great while it worked. Failed a little over a year in. I have multiple hard drives that are pushing 10 years of age. It's a rare occurence for me to have one fail, much less so soon. I won't be purchasing this brand again.

    Great external drive for a great price!
    Easy to install. Not a fan of all the cloud services and apps. It's louder than other external drives but not distracting. I've trusted WD products for decades and always found them to be dependable.
