4.5 I want to kill the MC stars ! Oh she was such a bloody thorn, nasty words, viscous reactions, and heartless dumping. Oh I suffered, my poor heart broke and then broke some more. Ms. Maas is a wicked beast ! I had a seriously messed up night of sleep, whiplashed heart, book hangover. oh I'm a suffering reader here. I don't even drink alcohol but I'd suggest having a strong one at hand when reading or a warm puppy to cuddle to blues away. I am taking a few days off this series to recover. Book 3 is loaded and waiting. Be gentle with me Ms. Maas. I am a fragile beastie :D

"Death was her curse and her gift,…
"Death was her curse and her gift, and death had been her good friend these long, long years." After the general blandness of Throne of Glass I was hesitantly hopeful for Maas's follow-up. She did not disappoint. Crown of Midnight had a sluggish start, but once it got rolling it never let up. The characters are constantly tested, the action and intrigue is wicked and delicious, there's just enough romance to keep things interesting without getting gooey, and I think I suffered whiplash from a few of the plot twists. The only detail keeping this from being a five-star read for me was that I predicted one of the biggest "plot twists" almost from the start. I'm thrilled at how this developed from the first book in the series and can't wait to dive into the next. "She'd learned the only skills that could keep her safe. To escape death, she'd become death." Calaena is officially the King's Champion and is playing a dangerous game as she's sent on back to back assignments for the ruthless ruler. Calaena is an excellent deceiver and her loyalties belong to no one but herself. But her strengthening friendship with the rebellious Princess Nehemia and her developing relationship with Chaol of the Captain's Guard will make her question what she's fighting for. None of them are prepared for what's coming or what they'll face. Devastating tragedy, deep betrayal, and an impossible rising evil make this novel a thrill. With magic and plenty of swordplay and a brutal heroine, Maas delivers.

Cover: Very Nice Though it was a spoiler for the ending... Rating: 4 Stars Overall: Had it's moments... Characters: Well Written Plot: Celaena is now the King's Champion, but her new power also brings new dangers! Page Turner: Sometimes Series Cont.? Yes Recommend: Yes Favorite Character: Celaena Source: Library Review: I honestly feel this books deserves a 3-3.5 but looking at is as a part of a series, it's a solid 4. To me this is my least favorite of SJ Maas' books, but I started with ACOTAR so I'm used to her later works. I love this series, and look forward to getting my hands on Heir of Fire! This one left off in such a way that anything can happen, and probably will! While I was bored though most of this one, it did have places that I was in love with it, and toward the end, and most of the second half, once things start moving again it really picks up! While I guess a lot of the twists in this book from foreshadows (and some spoilers >.

Celeana has a job to d...
Celeana has a job to do and she does it well. Its not cooking or tending a family but a great assassin for a tyrant king. She has become his hidden and deadly sword to his enemy. If working for an evil king wasn't enough she has to deal with a love triangle and supernatural elements that she is only discovering in her past, present and future. She has to decide whether to work toward her future or the future of her people. Pro: - What I LOVE the most about this book and series is the female protagonist. I LOVE, HEART and wanna be Celeana when I grow up. She is so well written and has depth for miles. What i love is that she truly is a strong female character. She does not depend on a male figure to carry her. Nor does her occupation define her or her personality. Yes she is a deadly assassin but that doesn't mean she doesn't like flowing gowns, perfumes, softness and reading. Yes she reads and actually finds most answers in a library...... well and danger but we all know that happens some times ;). She only grows and flourishes in this book. - There is a sorta love triangle and im usually not a big fan of these. Mostly because they seem to overshadow the storyline when there is a female lead. BUT this is not the case here. The love story is second to the actual plot which adds to the dimension of the plot. There is no Bachlorrette style conflict where Celeana is pining for one man or cannot make up her own mine. Likewise the men are not conniving or over bearing. Yes the characters go through emotions and ordeals while trying to sort them....But SURPRISE they tend to do it in an adult way. Not neglecting their duties or friends in the process. - Working together! Yay..... Girls and boys work together! Even through their differences and conflicts Celeana, Dorian, Nehemia and Chaol work together. They try to support each other through friend ship. The girls have an actual friendship that is complicated and not Mean Girls. - Mort..... I want him as my door nob...... NOW!..... to question visitors and suitors Con: -The walking dead.... thats what your going to call it...... Quotes: -The knights gift, of seeing her for who she was, not what she was that won her heart

I am absolutely loving the Throne of Glass series so far! This book makes me so giddy I was practically rolling in my bed in glee and then suddenly bam! Everything is ruined and I'm a sad heaping mess on the floor. It was an emotional roller coaster, but I should have seen it coming, there was no way the characters could be so happy this soon. They obviously have to suffer a little more (;-;). There are a lot of secrets and unexpected surprises, even though its started to drag on towards the middle but it was still a fantastic read. I need to finish these books! This may just be one of my new favorite series.

    First off, to review t...
First off, to review this book without giving away things that happened in the first would be nearly impossible, so let me just apologize ahead of time. The level of emotion swelling around in my brain right now is nearly immeasurable. I am both shocked, awed, and immensely angry all at once. I am not entirely sure how to put that all into words, but I am going to do my best. This book rocked me to my very core. I am a latecomer to this series, but now I am sitting here chomping at the bit like the rest of you. Part of me is cursing the fact that the next installment does not come out until September, while the other part of me immediately went to Netgalley to see if it was up, and now I am sitting with fingers crossed until I find out whether or not I will be approved to review it. Crown of Midnight is a book that is so well written, and so beautifully continues where the first leaves off that you felt like there was no wait at all. Where some series, I feel like I almost have to reread the prior book(s) because I have forgotten what has happened, this author does a beautiful job of incorporating in the backstory, both the parts that we already read and the bits of backstory that we could only guess at.In the back of my mind, I had harbored the thought and the hope that the ending of this one would play out the way it did, but another part of me was thinking it was just not possible. The world building in this series is fantastic, as is the incorporations of bits of lore that we all know and love, built out to become an amazing story. If you are a fan of the young adult fantasy genre, then this is an absolute must read. If you read and enjoyed Jennifer Nielsen's Ascendence Trilogy, this one is right up your alley.

Crown of Midnight was an exceptional tale that had me reading late into the night. This sequel to Throne of Glass did not disappoint-the continued story of Celaena Sardothien was intense, even heartbreaking. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

Fast paced, action filled sequel to Throne of Glass. Excellent character development for main characters. Was impressed with the development of the back-story and all the creative world building. This one kept me on edge of my seat and made me cry a lot too. I adore Celaena, such an intriguing heroine. Cannot wait to see what the fashioned obsessed assassin minx is going to get up to next. FYI for booksellers/librarians fyi there is some sex, but it is tasteful and not overly descriptive.

Excellent sequel to and excellent book. The unravelling of Celaena's past is really appreciated after long last. Am very keen to get started on the last book. So glad I waited for all three books to be written before I started on this adventure otherwise I'm not sure how I would have coped!

Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh...
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH. I can't even. I just can't. Did NOT see THAT coming. The feels...oh, the feels!!Full Review:*Many thanks to Bloomsbury and NetGalley for allowing early access to this title*This is one of THOSE books. You know, the ones that kick you in the teeth and laugh hysterically while doing it. The ones who destroy you bit by bit until you can't even begin to see straight and don't even try to put you back together. The ones who secretly enjoy your pain and try their hardest to bring it on even MORE.I loved every minute of it.Seriously loved it.I feel like I'm a book sadist. I mean, how many of THOSE books have I read lately? Lots. I'm a glutton for punishment, but really, it's punishment of the best sort.I loved the story arc in Crown of Midnight. I loved where it started, I loved where I was halfway through, and I ADORED the ending. Sure, it left me with LOADS of questions, but they'll eventually be answered. I think. I hope. THOSE QUESTIONS BETTER BE ANSWERED!!!The ending...It made me a little twitchy and crazy. But also hopeful, which is WAY better than where I was in the latter half of the book when I cried on about every page and resolved to never be happy again. Can we take a minute and talk about characters? Oh, the characters!! Everyone here has such depth to them. They're completely fantastic and amazing. Just when you think you have someone all nicely labeled and shelved, they go all ninja and surprise you. Every single person in this book did that to me. I've resolved to not even TRY to figure people out in the next books, because it does me no good whatsoever.Okay, Chaol. I'm still 100% Team Chaol. LOVE that man. Oh, how I wish he was a real guy. I NEED a guy like Chaol in my life. One who puts me first, even when it looks like he isn't. One who is strong on his own, but stronger with me. One who is pretty much amazing in every way. I ADORE Chaol. Celaena: Well. Didn't see THAT coming. Really didn't see it. Obviously, I can't say what IT is, but you'll know. Oh, you'll know. She goes through hell in CoM and comes out stronger for it. She'll chew you up and spit you out and laugh all the while, but she's got a sensitive side as well. We see a little more of that in CoM, and I liked it. It made her much less superhero assassin to me and more superhero assassin with heart. :)While we're at it, how about the developments between Chaol and Celaena?????Seriously, I did the happy dance.Dorian: Dorian continues to surprise me. I was kind of eh about him in Throne of Glass, but I loved him in CoM. He's becoming dynamic to me and I'm finding depth to him that I didn't think he had. He's really growing on me, and I hope that there are legions of good things coming for him. I'm sure he'll be dragged through hell first, because hey, that's what tends to happen in this series, but I hope he comes out well in the end.I don't know what else to say, other than this is one of my favorite books of the year. This series is definitely at the top of my favorites list and makes me a bit giddy.5 Eiffel TowersContent AdvisoryLanguage: ModerateSexuality: ModerateViolence: Heavy (Dude. She's an assassin.
