excellent gate fits a wide range opening
I got this gate because of the color even though it is taller than I needed. I didn't want a standard white gate.
This gate is pretty heavy and very well made. Installation is pretty easy. The most challenging part is to get the gate in the right width for the opening where the gate will be installed. It comes with 4 extra panels, 2 of each size. Using the extra panels, if you need the gate to be wide, and adjusting them by sliding into each other, you can easily achieve the width you need. Keep in mind that the screw things on each side and top and bottom of the gate can be used to lengthen the gate as well.
I started drilling holes into the baseboard where the bottom part of the gate will be secured. The only issue I have is, with the quarter round, I was able to secure one of the 2 screws. The other one went over the top of the baseboard. I decided to just use one screw and rely on the top set of screws to secure the gate onto the wall. Otherwise, you'll need a longer screw in order to secure it into the wall.
Then, I slide the gate into the holders that I screwed onto the baseboard, and that was when I realized that the gate is TOO TALL for my wall. The reason it is too tall is because the walls that I was mounting the gate on have chair rail. I would have to cut the chair rail in order to mount the holders onto the wall.
Lesson learned: Measure the height as well as the width of the gate. Unfortunately, the ad doesn't provide the measurement/location where the gate will be mounted on the wall. I recommend buying this gate from a store where you can return at the store, instead of having to mail it back.
I do recommend this gate, and I would have kept it if I didn't run into the chair railing issue.

Sturdy,beautiful,convienient
Love this gate,it's very attractive and works easily...even swings in or out. The only problem is that the installation instructions and pictures aren't very clear, making it harder to install than I thought. You will need an electric drill and patience but it really is worth the effort.(don't panic you have all the necessary parts included)

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/22/2021Perfect gate for a large opening. This gate is an excellent choice for large openings. The color and appearance blend in well with our home. The installation was fast and easy even though the directions could be better written. The directions don't explain in detail if the gate should rest on the floor or not. All in all it keeps our new puppy from the rest of the house.Robert

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/26/2016Extra large gateI recommend this gate for a large opening. I use mine to keep the dog out of the room and as a baby gate. I like the tall height because my dog can't jump it. The bronze color makes the gate disappear. It is sturdy and well built. Note that you can use one hand to open the gate by using your thumb to push back the release button.Michele

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/12/2014Looks great, easy to installI was skeptical of the gate considering some reviews about it's reliability however this gate feels pretty sturdy considering it's a 6foot wide space. It looks stylish in the home and can be easily removed when needed leaving the anchors still up for re attachment later. It's been 1 month and so far no problems. We are very pleased with this purchase!HelpfulGate
