Soda Stream Set
This set includes the soda stream machine, bottle and the CO2 bottle. It is easy to assemble and use. Simply follow the directions included to install the CO2 tank and start the machine. This simply carbonates water and you can add your own flavors to create "soda". This is a great alternative to soda in that you do not get all thos added sugars and preservatives and no harmful metals. The water bottle is plastic, but it is BPA free. You conserve on the amount of waste you produce, since you are making it at home, not needing bottles or aluminum cans as you see in the stores. The carbonating bottles have an expiration date on the bottom, so make sure you take note of this and replace the bottle when it comes time (the plastic bottle). Also only hand wash this bottle. You have to use the bottles made for the machine, so while it cuts down on your plastic waste, it is only to a certain point. Now the way you use this depends on how much healthier it will be for you. Obviously, if you drink a lot of soda, using this machine will be beneficial, but if you're just putting in flavors that's are artificial anyway, you are not doing much in the way of improvement. Always add the flavor after carbonation, but I recommend using natural flavors as much as possible. There are flavorings made by soda stream itself, but I like the versatility to be able to control the flavorings added to my drinks. You can carbonate nearly any drink, even kool-aid, but as I said, it is more beneficial to use natural as possible. For me personally, as someone who did not drink soda much to begin with, this did not add much benefit, but I do drink alot of sparkling water from cans, so it helped in this way. I enjoy adding a but of lemon to the water. I would say to anyone considering it, at least try it. I found some benefit from this, although it may not be what it is necessarily hyped up about. It is hyped to replace soda, but you can also just make sparkling water to increase water consumption in your day to day, if you're like me and get bored of flat water.

This product isn't what I thought it was. It was very easy to set up and I do love the water bottle that they provide. The carbonation is a joke. You're supposed to press the button to use it. 5 presses is very very carbonated, like store bought sparkling water, but it didn't even fizz it. After 5 presses I was stuck with carbonation that was like flat 3 day old soda. I'm very disappointed.

    First of all for some reason I thought this was going to be something that would be frustrating to set up and use. When I pulled it out of the package there was the CO container, the Machine itself and the water bottle. Directions come with it and are all pictures no words. I was surprised when it was actually so simple and took about 5 minutes or less to set up and make my first bottle of fizzy water. To get the ball rolling all you have to do is pop the back off of the machine, take the plastic seal off of the CO cartridge, slide the CO cartridge thru the bottom of the unit and screw it in to the soda machine until tight. Pop the back of the soda maker on. Take the water bottle fill it with water to the water line. Put it in the soda maker so the CO spicket is the water and the clear plastic lever is pushed. There is a button on top of the machine that you push to shoot the Carbon into the water. 3 times for mild sparkle, 5 times for lots of sparkle. I got a little carried away and pushed it a few extra times to see how it worked and it amazed me with the simple push of a button you have sparkling water. I added some lemon juice to it shook it a little and it was ready to drink This sparkling water maker will diffidently give me the variety to so I drink more water.

    I've always wanted to try out a Soda Stream so I was really excited when I had the chance this past month. I received the Fizzi Black Starter kit which came with the Soda Stream machine, a canister of C02 and one 1L reusable bottle. It does not come with any flavorings. I did order in some flavorings to try out since I prefer carbonated water with flavor. I was really excited to see how many flavors there are to choose from, and especially how many sugar-free options. Not only were there all the normal diet soda flavors, but fruits and energy drinks, even tonic water. The machine doesn't need power and this is a great feature! You can take it camping or use it if your power goes out. It's also nice to keep in an office. Assembly is really easy. It's just a matter of putting the C02 canister in the machine. That is literally all it requires. From there you just fill a bottle, chill it, then insert it into the machine and press the button up to 5 times, depending on how fizzy you want it. If you are adding flavor, do it after you've carbonated. The C02 canisters can be traded in, kind of like propane tanks for your grill. I would recommend getting two of them so you can always have one on hand. The flavorings are really economical as they last up to 64L each and only cost a little more than a 12-pack of soda. That's an amazing bargain if you ask me. Extra 1L bottles come in individual or 2-packs and this is something that is nice to have extras of on hand. Overall, this drink system is great for anyone who wants a big variety, but also wants to save both money, and the environment. It's fun to use and takes up very little space.

    This is certainly not what I expected. I tried with and without flavoring. It tastes like the liquid from a soda machine that needs the drink bags changed out. I was not impressed. This may be better for someone else but it is not for me. *Received free product to test.

    Nice Sodastream!
    I couldn't wait to receive my Sodastream Fizzi Black Starter Kit and make my first Sodastream. It takes up very little counter. I want to make a smaller foot print and this helps reduce all the plastic bottles that I currently use. It was really easy to set up and I had my first carbonated water drink. Now I need to get some syrup if I want a carbonated water drink. The unit looks good and is lightweight. So far I love this machine it makes great carbonated water just like yo buy at the store. I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program.

    Everyone should have one
    This is the neatest machine. I never thought how convenient it is to be able to make my own sodas until I tried the Sodastream Fizzi Black Starter Kit. All you need is cold water and flavoring and you have soda without going out to buy it and carry home heavy cases of soda cans or big bottles of soda that go flat after you open them. I now have fresh soda anytime. Not to mention the storage space I am saving. I used to take up so much room in my refrigerator storing cans of soda. Now all I need is cold water and I have soda anytime. I enjoy refreshing seltzer. So I don't even need flavors. But my family likes to add flavor. Their favorites are the cola and the root beer flavors. But we have also experimented with mixing flavors like cola and lemon-lime. And of course the plain seltzer is great with some fresh fruit. It's so easy to use. You just insert the CO2 carbonator canister and then snap lock on the bottle of cold water and push the button for 10 seconds at a time until you get your desired amount of carbonation. I usually do 2 pumps. It's a matter of personal taste as to how much carbonation you like. After that you add the flavor or drink it plain. There is no electricity, no batteries required. And because you only use water there is no clean up of the machine. You will never run out of soda again with this Sodastream Fizzi Black Starter Kit. I purchased extra 1 litre bottles. You have to use the Sodastream bottles with this machine. They are reusable for up to three years. Just hand wash them. Every household should have their own soda maker. It's something that you don't realize you need until you try it and then wonder how you got along without it. I wish I had thought to try one sooner.

    Wonderful tasting water
    The Sodastream is very easy to use, and gives you wonderful tasting water. You can add flavoring after the carbonation process. I tried a liquid koolaid mix, and it tasted very good. It will kind of perk up the taste of plain water also. To set it up for first use, you follow the pictures on the picture card, and in just minutes, you are ready to go and start using it. To install the cylinder of co2, you take off the protective wrapping, then screw the cylinder in place on the sodastream machine. Next, you pull the plastic guide on the front forward gently. Fill the water bottle up to the line with cold water, then slide the water bottle up into place and push back the guide. Next, you press on the button on the top firmly. Three presses will give you some carbonation, and five presses will give you a lot of bubbles and carbonation. I really like the flavor of even the plain carbonated, or sparkling water. The sodastream is easy and fun to use. It will save you a lot of money, in that it can replace buying soda pop. Also, it will lead to less waste in the garbage, by using this for a fresh, great tasting beverage instead of soda pop. This is a definite winner !!!!

    I have been interested in these devices for some time but we don't drink much soda. None the less we do enjoy fizzy water. I was surprised that the instructions are only pictures, nothing written. However it was fairly easy to follow and get things going. I don't know what I did wrong but the first time I pushed the fizzy button water shot out all over my counter. I took the bottle out, looked at the pictures again to see if I had missed anything and tried again. All went well. The starter kit does not come with syrup, so I tried a little bottle of flavoring used to bake with. It worked and I got a mild strawberry taste in my fizzy water. Next I tried Vanilla from the baking items and it worked really well tasting just like cream soda without the sugar. I am not a sugar person so I will look for a non-sugar syrup to try.

    Water is more exciting now!
    We LOVE our SodaStream. I always thought it was only for making soda/pop but then I realized we can make sparkling water also! Ends up saving us money by not having to buy La Croix. We have started experimenting with infusing it with natural fruit flavors because I like the flavored water. My boys are perfectly content with plain bubbly water. Buy two CO2 cartridges so then you have a backup if one runs out and you don't have to run out to get it filled right away. We can't wait to show our friends and let them taste it!
