Reliable, Intuitive and Value Priced
I have a collection of external hard drives going back many years with their storage capabilities growing as my storage needs have grown. For my main computer I use an array of external back up drives which includes the Seagate 6 TB drive. The USB 3,0 makes transfers quick and the included software and online applications make use simple, intuitive and reliable. The cost is a real bonus and shortly after purchasing this particular unity I also added an 8 TB Seagate external drive for a different computer, having now retired all of my Western Digital drives

Great Storage Amount but not Portable
This hard drive is a bit on the bulkier side. You can't really take this anywhere and it is mostly meant to be left plugged in right next to your computer since this hard drive needs to plugged into an outlet and the device you want to connect it to. Moving this around is not really feasible. While the 6TB is a great amount for external storage, I cannot recommend this because if you need to move this hard drive around it will be a bit burdensome.

    Seagate 6TB external hard drive
This expansion drive is just what the programmer ordered. 6 Terabytes of storage and a great plug and play external portable drive. Now I have a single dedicated work drive for my photography and videos. It is a new device with blazing 3.0 USB speed connection, and already it is performing very well. I hope I will not have to come back and alter my opinion.

    Perfect for my application
I bought this to provide media storage for my home Plex server and it is perfect. Because it is USB 3.0 interface, I can move it to any USB capable device.

    Consistent quality A
I have consistently used Seagate external hardrives since about 2009. I have owned about 8 of them since then, and have not yet been disappointed with their quality or performance. Highly recommended.

A better kind of external storage
Over on the work table is a collection of small 4 GB USB drives, some of which are made by Seagate. They do work, but are slow. I am not sure of their reliability when it comes to needing to retrieve your data at a critical time. They do seem to fail more often than I would expect. These Seagate external drives have a disk drive inside that you would find inside of most desktop computers. They are made for the long haul. These are powered by their own power supply unlike the small disks that get their power from the USB port to which they are attached. These external disks are much faster than the small USB disks. This one has 50% more storage than the 4 GB USB attached drives. In a small home network, these work well attached to just one computer where everyone can store their data in one place. Or, attach one external disk to each computer if the data requirements are such that one user would overwhelm one disk attached to the network.

    Buy it! Amazing!
I love this product. It brought so much freedom to my cramped PC. It works and it never fails. Before I had this I had 2 gigabytes of space left on my C drive, but then when it arrived, I was able to move all that stuff to the drive and now I have 106 gigabytes on my C drive. Great product 100% recommended

    Works Great - Huge
I moved most of my files off my computer onto this Seagate drive. I grab files from it just like I do with my internal hard drive. I never turn it on or off (it must get cues from my computer). It's always ready and fast. I keep some current files on my internal HD but now I've got quick access to all my archives on this huge 6GB external HD.
