5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/29/2021Been using this for yearsI've been using Rit dyes for over 20 years. The black is good for faded shirts and pants since the stitching doesn't dye, only the fabric. But you do have to read the directions for it to really work. Too much water, or too many clothes, and your clothes won't be dark. The water looks dark, but your clothes won't be. I usually use 2 boxes per pair of size 6 jeans, and put them and the dye in a five gallon bucket that's half full of water and they always come out great.LindaInTampaBay

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/30/2017About as mediocre as all Rit productsI've used this a few times and tried both the pan and the washer method, following the directions exactly, with the same lack-luster results. Directions say to double the dye for dark color, but still ends up purplish gray. If you have something that is light colored that you want to actually be black, consider buying 3-4 packages. If I use it again, I might also add a package of green to counter the purple color of this dye. Also the directions say to mix for 30 mins, but I find that there is no difference between fabric stirred for 5 mins an fabric stirred for 30. Thorough mixing is important for even color, but no amount of stirring can cause there to be a higher concentration of dye in the fabric than in the water. The concentration of dye is by far the most important factor in achieving the actual color on the package; less water+more dye=better color.BigTnWV

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/16/2016black fabric dyeThe dye works well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the instructions are printed inside the box and are printed small, making them hard to read.Vinnie
