Great smoker for the price!
This is a awesome smoker for the price!! I haven't had any issues, im on my 5th smoke. I've done 4 batches of jerky turned out excellent. 1 smoke with baby back ribs 3 slabs cut in half, was perfect! I use the western wood chips done cherry and hickory so far, low n slow and keep water in the tray and check wood chips change if needed no problems for me great little smoker.

Problems
Ok, Bought this and after the third time using it it started tripping the braker. Took unit apart and found the wires going to the heating element was melted and shorted to ground. Rewired the unit and it started working great again. Now after about six months the display is getting hard to read and over heats.

    Unit will turn off after an hour. Probably good for smaller items only like chickens or small roasts. It took 8 hours for a 16 hour turkey! And because the temperature kept turning off the skin was rubbery.

    Not bad, could be better.
    I have only used it once so far so my review may be premature. The main thing I haven't liked so far is that it isn't sealed very well at all. I really expect better from pit boss. I can see daylight at many points inside the smoker. You don't have the option of completely closing the vents if desired. When you add wood to smoke, there is smoke coming from all over the outside of the box. Caught it on sale, so it was cheap on price. It could be a really nice addition if some design flaws were addressed.

    We bought this with high hopes but it was an absolute dud. 3-2-1 ribs were so tough they needed a steak knife. The same with a tri-tip. And it took 6 hours to get a 5 pound chicken cooked through. I think the issue is inaccurate temps, burning lower than what the display read. The meat probe was also highly inaccurate when compared against both Weber digital and analog thermometers. We are back to out trusty Smoke Hollow electric smoker.

    Amazing electric smoker!
    Omgoodness I love my electric smoker! Easy to put together ! Lightweight for me to pick up and move in. Best part my brisket was awesome melted like butter in your mouth!

    Love the smoke button, This smoker has it all high quality. Easy to use digital temperature, a timer, and a button to push for smoke at low cooking temperatures. A great buy at a great price for all the features.

    Poor product, wires burn away after 3 smokes!
    Smoker worked for first two times, third time it wouldnt smoke at all! Customer service sent a new heating element. When we took it apart it was the wires that had been burnt in half from the heat, not the heating element. We trimmed the wires and replaced the heating element. Again on the third smoke, wires were burnt in half. Again trimmed wires, happened again and again on third smoke!! Now out of wire to trim off. When it works it smokes very good, but it doesnt work more than 3 times. Poor craftmanship, poor quality product! Spend more money for a reliable product from people who dont sell cheap products that break down.

    Don't buy
    Did not work right out of the box. They sent me a new temperature sensor didn't work now going on week 3 and they say they are sending a new control board. I'm about to pack up take back to Walmart.

    Pit Boss 2 Tone Electric Smoker
    This is the first electric smoker I purchased and I am glad I did. I do still have my old Charbroil smoker which I had to watch the smoker for hours to keep the temp where I wanted it. Now, I don't have to worry. It has an ambient temp for the inside and comes with one thermometer with the ability to purchase another if you are cooking two types of meat. All I do now is set the temp, time, and add wood chips, and walk away. Check it for maybe an hour or two for the water pan to make sure the meat does not dry out. The wood chip bin is a good size also. The first thing I cooked was some Ribs, and man, the ribs came out perfect. The smoke flavor was on point too. Love this thing.
