Good idea but lots of kinks need to be fixed.
Good idea but awful grill/smoker. The reviews of it not creating a lot of smoke is correct so you’ll need a smoke stick. For the price this grill is definitely not worth it. Ours was defective throwing errors and not regulating heat. I’ve been contacting pit boss to get it fixed but with only have used it 3 times in less than 20 days (1 time it shut off without me knowing and it ruined a $60 piece of meat) and yesterday having to unplug it so it would shut off and stop raising the temperature I have started a return and I’m returning it after work today. I don’t want anything to do with getting a replacement. I’ll go with another brand over getting this one again until it’s been out long enough to have the bugs fixed and be able to research problems with it. First photo is where it was set to 400 and just kept raising the temp and it had to be unplugged bc the power button wasn’t working on the unit and the 2nd is where it wouldn’t get up to temp.

    Awesome grill/smoker
    I bought the Lockhart when my Cabela's brand 24" went bad on me. I bought it in Jan/Feb and have loved it. Was thinking of doing both a grill and a vertical and the Lockhart did them both. My daughter graduated this year and did 70# of pork butts for grad and they turned out amazing. Love this grill, my only drawbacks to this is the smoke cabinet runs about 100 less than the grill and the ash tray they could do a better job with.

    Does everything but fried eggs.
    Need a big vehicle to transport it and two people to build it. Both inconveniences are minor compared to the functionality and quality of this unit. One feature that many smoker units do not have, but this one does, is a flame broiler option for searing meat. Highly recommend Pit Boss Champion Blend Pellets as well. Smoked/grilled so far: leg of lamb, pork ribs, porterhouse steaks, hamburgers, whole chicken, shrimp, top round beef for cold-cuts, finger potatoes, corn on the cob.. all excellent. Does not do fried eggs well (Joking).

    I can't understand the negative reviews. This thing is a machine. Grill, oven, smoker...I must admit a side burner would complete this kitchen. However, it has no flaws in my mind. I've had it for a while, and it really does it all. I reach 180 in the smoke box with the grill at 350. That's at Temps in the 60s outside. It's worth the price tag. Every penny. It makes grilling, smoki g, baking...oh I must mention the pizza is amazing....(and just cooking..).a blast. I want to try baked good with the Amish hint of wood stove flavor. Buy it. Let me push you over that fence!

    Love you can grill and smoke in the same grill love the that i can view the grill from my phone smoked 3 chicken and potatoes and still had room for more things if I wanted I will say when cleaning wear gloves I went to far and cut my self

    Make sure to plan for it to be near an outlet!
    Hubby loves it! Very well packaged (was concerned because box looked a bit banged up...but it was perfect on inside, no damage. App is better on android than iPhone (odd), but put works like a charm. Just be sure to set up near an electrical outlet . I didn’t consider this and had to change up patio area. It’s as tall as I am!

    Smoker is difficult to control and must be watched
    Smoker does not appear to actually have a internal sensor. It seems like it uses the grill temperature sensor to estimate the smoker temperature. The controller reported 155f and the of the probes were at 205 while on the smoker grates. It works fine but don't expect to set and forget the smoker. I expected more for 750$

    Lockhart is an absolute lock on Smoker/Grill !!
    Assembly was pretty straight forward and went quickly -- minimum tools needed! The grill is awesome! So far I have cooked steaks on the grill and smoked 3 racks of ribs in the smokers cabinet -- everything came out great. The bark on the ribs was fantastic. The smoke is very different though -- not heavy at all -- thin blue smoke. Almost thought it wasn't smoking the ribs, but when we actually took them off and the first lift of the ribs, when they literally fell off the bone --revealed a beautiful smoke ring and wonderful smoky flavor. I used the Pit Boss Competition Pellets and loved the flavor. Used the 3-2-1 method to cook the ribs -- perfect! Love the wi-fi bluetooth connection through the Pit Boss Smoke IT App - easily monitored the cook and it was easier to regulate the cabinet temp through the app. Great grill so far!! Pretty big footprint!
