The size is accurate, however, it barely snaps together securely and falls apart easily. Whenever the wind blows or the dog bumps it it falls apart. It also turns over very easily. We have to go out several times a day to fix this house. I'm going to anchor it to a wooden base and see if I can secure it together with screws.

    It's really big and sturdy and would have recieved a 5 star rating but there were no screws to secure the top to the bottom

    Good doghouse.
    I got this on sale, for a really great price. I had bought a Suncast dog house that was $100, and I ended up returning it the next day because the plastic was so thin and seemed flimsy. This Petmate is also plastic, but it's heavy duty and has a sturdy, solid feel to it. It comes in just two pieces, a top and a bottom; and you literally just put the top part on to the bottom part. It's big enough for a standard size poodle, which is a large breed... if you use this size for a cat (or cats), it would be very spacious; it would be very roomy for small and medium sized dogs too. This gives good coverage for rain and winter. It's on my deck, but I wouldn't recommend putting this directly on the ground in the yard or anything, just for the fact that anything directly on the ground will get muddy and more likely to get wet inside of it. My 3yo can fit into it; and just like dogs, toddlers love hiding in snug places... he immediately sat down inside as soon as I got it. My dog took a few chicken bits, but he also eventually got in no problem, and now goes in on his own.

    Good product. Sturdy and easy to clean.
    The house is big and easy to clean. My only complaint is when it rains, the rain drips or blows in the front entrance. I try and put towels in front of the doorway, but it is hard to keep anything dry. The top overhang should come out further to block any rain. Otherwise, this is a great product.

    Poor Closure. Not worth $75.
    Poor closure. Dog keeps knocking top off. It is designed so that the top just sits on the bottom and “clicks” in, but it's poorly made to be able to stay on. It doesn't take much for it to come apart. If you have high energy dogs it's not a good match. For $75 I definitely expected something better.

    Great Dog House for a Large Dog
    I extensively read the reviews on this item as I do with any item before making a purchase and because of the great reviews I decided to purchase two for my 2, 70-pound female lab dogs. I was impressed with the durability, construction, quality, and size of the dog house. My 170 pound, 5' 10 husband was even able to squeeze into it! I had two, plush dog beds that I kept in the house for my labs before buying this dog house and I put it in the dog houses for them and it fit perfectly. It is like a mini, luxury "condo" for them, LOL.

    NEW HOME FOR A LITTLE DOG
    our next door neighbor has a little dog that did not have a home..seeing her sit and lay on the cold ground everyday bothered me...went to walmart ..com and as always you had the best price so ordered it..got it and put some straw in it for her and now she is a new home owner...thank you for the great product...this is the second one i have bought ...so i know it is a good little dog house...thank you again and have a happy thanksgiving..
