San Antonio Texas shade
We're getting there!! It's been a little over a month of putting down the original seed. My husband went back and reseeded bare spots. We'll probably go back and reseed bare spots a third time where needed. Our St. Augustine grass is also filling in a bit, but it won't survive in the really shady areas. We've had A TON of rain and moderate temperatures, so we'll see what happens when the dry summer comes.

No growth
I was hoping giving it more time would result in seeing some growth but unfortunately there was none. I followed the instructions on the pack to a tee hoping to make those bare spots around my tree a bit fuller and still saw no new grass.

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/24/2022No grow for meI was given a bag of Pennington Smart Seed Dense Shade Mix to try. I spred it out in an area which gets little sun. The only thing that came up was weeds. I patiently am waiting for grass to grow. It's been almost 3 weeks. Not impressed at this point.Dawnyrae13

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/21/2022A quality grass seedIn a stroke of good timing, shortly after receiving this Dense Shade mix from Pennington just a couple weeks before my back deck was removed (due to structural issues). This left a huge dirt patch in an area of my yard that is mostly shaded by the house. The grass had a bright green color to it. As somebody knowing nothing about growing grass, I couldn't help but feel the grass to come will be a vibrant color once it comes in. It also was self fertilizing, which is perfect for a novice gardener like myself (last year was my first real attempt at gardening). It helps simplify the process. It was also easy to distribute and worked with the handheld spreader I bought perfectly. I cant wait till it comes in!!CaptainSample

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/19/2022Finally grass under my tree!!!I have an area that I haven't been able to get grass to grow. It only gets sun for about half hour in the early morning. The rest of the time it is completely covered by a very thick beech tree. I had almost gave up on it, then after trying the Pennington dense shade mix I was finally able to get good looking grass under the tree. I have tried multiple different "shade" mixes this is the first one that worked. Thank you Pennington!Rick U

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/10/2022Quick & Easy!!We have several areas in our back yard that are shady and have no grass growing, so this Spring was the perfect time to try this grass seed. I really like how easy it is to use and the quality is fantastic compared to others we have tried. After about a 10 days I could see the grass already starting to grow in those shady spots under the mature trees. I love that it requires less water and has a fertilizer coating on each seed for quick, hardy green grass! It's looking great and makes the yard look so much better! This is no ordinary grass seed! I recommend it for anyone looking to fill in the shady areas of your property with thick green grass!AmyEVilleneuve

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/26/2022Not sureWe've had wonky weather when i received this seed. Warm then snow then warm then cold rains. So I wanted to wait till the weather calmed down. Perfect day was right after a heavy rain and sunshine and warmth for 2 days. I can't really give a 100% on if the seed works or not because we had another cold snap out of the blue. In the past with seed I either usually see it right away or it sneaks up and just grows suddenly. This brand might be a sneaker and boom later. I did not care for the greenish blue powder it left everywhere. I placed this in areas that get shade and ares that get sun and shade. Nothing in both areas. In my opinion as of now I would not purchase but I want to wait a full month to see if any late action happens.MrsBeni8

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/21/2022so far...no real germination going on.I go this a few weeks ago and proceeded to plant this in my normal front yard trouble spot that needs seeding every year. It usually shows signs of grass in about a week and by now should certainly show something. But so far there is nothing growing of any significance. I am not sure what the difference it, but I would need this product to show some progress in two weeks. I do like the package and bag size is easy to use and manipulate.saltoftheearth

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/19/2022Easy to Use, Looking Forward to ResultsI have a dense shade area in my lawn... shaded by a line of five 80 ft pines. I just roughed up the lawn, spread soil and overseeded with Pennington's dense shade mix. Easy to spread and mixed with fertilizer, I can't wait for the results.TheDetailzGuy
