Pros and Cons
Pros: The quality is great for the price. Outdoor products has a great warranty policy. Cons: The elastic at the side pocket is too tight for easy insertion of a standard liter water bottle. Also, the shoulder straps have a connecting "bridge" that assumes to offer extra reinforcement, but it digs in severely at the back of the neck. That issue, for me, warrants a return to the store.

    Okay for light duty use
    The design is good, the material is not. Very thin. After one year of use the bottom of the bag developed large wear holes simply from the bag being placed on tables and chairs. Bought another one as a replacement because the design (many pockets) and capacity (above average) is convenient -- for light duty.

    Padded shoulders are beyond comfortable!
    The Vortex Backpack is extremely sturdy yet light weight. The padded shoulders are beyond comfortable. It has multiple compartments. My husband likes to use it for travel because he can carry it on the plane. He can fit everything he needs for his job. If it gets dirty he's able to wipe it clean. I like it because it's made of 35% recycled sources and it has a life time guarantee.

    Its perfect
    I needed a new backpack and one slightly larger, this one is perfect as I can get more groceries and other items in it. It has much nicer straps and it is more comfortable to carry compared to my old one, I hardly know its there when full.

    My 43 year old son loves this backpack with the cushioned shoulder support straps. He keeps all his essential things in it and wears it everywhere he goes. Good quality materials.

    Solid Backpack
    This is a very solid backpack for the price! I also have a few other name brand packs, but I find this one gets used the most! One of my favorite features is how adjustable the straps are- whether I use it for school or on vacation. And at half the price of other brands- kinda makes it bargain....

    Be aware that this Vortex 8.0 is NOT the same size
    ...as the previous Vortex 8.0 I have 5 of them that are 4 years old and I wanted to replace them, so I bought 4 of these. They only hold about 2/3 as the previous Vortex. They are still great, but not good for filling with clothes and items for a long weekend.
