It all worked out the way I remember in my youth. I read the reviews and instructions. before churning,I froze the canister and paddle, and refrigerated the full fat custard. I filled frozen cannister with custard,inserted paddle,put on top, put in bucket. I then layered a few inches of ice the rock salt till layers got to level of drain hole on side of bucket, then set bucket in sink. I worked square paddle top insert into bottome of electric motor until two tabs on bottom of motor arm seated in slots on bucket top, then plugged in motor. In my 78 degree kitchen the motor slowed until it stalled out a little after 30-35 min. Ice cream had consistency and creamy smoothnes of thick peanut butter. I had used 10-12 lbs of ice and over half a box rock salt.

Disappointed in this ice cream freezer
I was very excited to get a new ice cream freezer. I used it today for the 4th time and it no longer works properly. Half way through freezing it started bumping up and down and I was not able to finish freezing the ice cream. Something is wrong with the motor it sound like. Very disappointed! This product should work more than just 4 times.

    Prepare in advance %26 you'll get good ice cream
    This is a pretty good ice cream maker for the money. Be aware that it does not come with any instructions or manual; you will have to look it up on the internet. Also, if this is your first time using an ice cream maker, make sure you have plenty of rock salt and ice (crushed ice works best) on hand. Make note that the paddle that goes inside the metal container does not move, but rather the metal container spins in the ice bucket and around the paddle in its center, effectively churning the ice cream. BIG TIP: Freeze the metal container and paddle and refrigerate the ice cream base mixture you make for several hours before you want to make the ice cream. The colder everything is, the better ice cream you will make.

    Oh yeah! This ice cream maker rocks!
    This machine is great! I can't believe the low price for how well it works. The motor is very strong but isn't very loud. I used it for the first time yesterday and it produced ice cream the same smooth, creamy consistency as store bought but with a home made flavor. I highly recommend this unit.

    Easy ice cream maker
    Easy operation, rekindled the childhood memories. Just put ice, add salt in the bucket, add the ingredients as per your choice and voila good icecream is ready in 30 min.

    If you watch a couple of YouTube Videos you can master old fashion Iced Cream too. This does take about 45 minutes to make the ice cream and time is need for prepping and freezing the treat unless soft serve is fine. I highly suggest to put it in the freezer as fast as possible because you will eat this from the steel drum. It is that good.

    Bought this electric icecream machine for my twin grandsons for their birthday. Their love of icecream made this a perfect gift. They have made it for themselves, made it for family events, and are always looked to as superheros by their younger cousins. Easy to make and and quicker than I remember from years past. The quality of icecream beats all store bought. Best birthday gift for any icecream lovers. Now if I can get them to make me some sherbert.

    This thing is awesome! Truly! Very simple to set up, use and clean and it worked perfectly!! You can use any ice cream recipe you find online and it truley worked perfectly. It froze smooth and creamy in exactly the time it said. Very good product and good company. We also have a waffle maker from them and it works 100% perfectly every time, so simple to use and so so simple to clean. Beats out my expensive waffle iron in every category. Good company.

    Great little machine!
    Great little ice cream maker for a great price. This was purchased as a Christmas present, and has already been used (successfully) twice. First attempt (pictured) was coffee ice cream (from the recipe included in the insert). It was FABULOUS. We love this!
