fast results
My 5 yr old grandson and I did this together. Both of us enjoyed coloring and assemblingthe trees. What makes this above others simular is that results are obvious within 4 hours. Our trees were beautiful. The crystals are the colors we made the trees. The markers we used were also included. As was a small but nice crystal.geod

Poor quality packaging
Upon opening package to complete experiment, there was a crystal growing packet not sealed. It had spilled on the stencils needed to color on. Very disappointed

    It's a simple and fun way to help get kids to know about Crystal formation. For the price it's okay. May be kids a bit older may appreciate it more

    Great One-Day Science Experiment for Kids
    I was pleasantly surprised to find that this National Geographic Crystal Garden Kit only takes about 6-8 hours to grow! The kit comes with everything you need to grow 2 crystal trees. My children enjoyed coloring the cardboard tree frames upon which the pre-mixed crystal growing mixture is poured. There is no need for measuring liquids, boiling or mixing, so there is little room for error or injury. I was expecting the crystals to be a harder crystalline texture than they turned out to be, which was a fluffy papery consistency (they DID grow in mere hours off of paper, though). Because of their soft, fluffy texture, the trees we grew were not well suited for long time display, (strong wind or an accidental brushing by a child or pet would easily break off chunks of crystals. That said, we loved watching our crystal trees grow, and I highly recommend this kit, especially if you want a fun, easy science experiment at home! I am a spark reviewer, and provided my honest review.

    Fun for my five year old daughter
    My daughter is five and she had a lot of fun with this kit, especially since it mostly involved coloring and checking to see if it was growing or not. It turned out beautiful, but its spongey not hard like crystals.

    Not as expected
    I thought this crystal kit would start to get hard as it grows but it's still soft. In the beginning it was fun to make. My 8 year old enjoyed starting it but he has been complaining about the crystal material falling off. When I touch it, it's really soft like foam. I rather use the regular kit. I received this product as a spark reviewer for my honest opinion.

    My kids love science they both love to learn new things and how things work which is awesome. So of course when I seen this I new I had to get it for my kids. I like the fact they can learn some thing about the crystals and they can watch them grow etc I like that it has different color we like that we can do this as a family and there are two of the crystals so each of my kids get to do one. I really don't have a dislike of this product again we think it's awesome and it's educational and it teaches our kids how different crystals can grow and change.

    Great experiment for kids of all ages!
    This kit came with everything needed to grow crystals! We colored the trees with the included markers then followed the directions! Within an hour there were already tiny crystals growing! The instructions said it would be finished within 6-8 hours and it was! This was so fun to do especially with children and it was also so fun to watch grow throughout the day! I would definitely recommend this for kids of all ages! Even my husband enjoyed it!
