Rear Derailer
I bought this bike exactly 2 months ago and have ridden it exactly 5 times. That being said the Gears were not correct from the store. my advise? When you buy it ride it around the parking lot and make sure the Gears work. I only had 1st-4th on the rear disc pack. My point is Walmart should bring someone in to assemble the bikes that know exactly what they are doing or make Mongoose assemble the more complex parts of the bike so when walmart gets it mistakes can not be made that loses the company money and potentially customers. But hey what do i know. I'm just a consumer. If it wasn't for the derailer issue this bike would have got 5 stars from me. The brakes worked wonderful the front derailer worked fine no issues however the back derailer was garbage.

Nice bike but thats about it. Bought the bike today within 1 minute of riding it, it broke. I had to go to my local bike shop found out bike came defective and paid additional $65 to repair the parts that broke. I replaced the de regular and had to get a alignment because it messed up when the de regulator broke. Also had a hard time putting the handle bar on come to find out its defective. So in total paid $170 for the bike plus $100 more to replace broken parts and alignment. Beware this is a lemon Bike. The only reason I am not returning today is because I promised my son a bike ride today so i needed a bike. It was cheeper to keeper Hopefully.

Having a different experience of biking.
This bike is sturdy and good to ride but it has its defects. It gets rust for the most of its components. The frame is so far the best of the bike but the rest of it turns to be questionable. It is rather to invest a hundred dollar more and get an aluminium one.

    Piece of junk
Seemed really good at first, but sadly it's not. My son took this bike to college and not even a month in it is falling apart. It fell over and the front wheel bent slightly, the next day he put the breaks on and the tire bent further and is not rideable now. There also had been a clunking noise before this happened. We took it to be repaired and was told the reason it bent so easily was because the spokes were not installed tight enough in the manufacturing process. I currently have a request in for a new rim and tire, but we did not register the bike so I do not have a lot of hope of receiving one.

Good For The Price But Have Suggestions
Good bike for the price. However, the seat was uncomfortable to me so I bought a softer seat, because I don't have much "padding" down there LOL, plus I do sit most of the time, if being a mountain bike makes them think that I'm not going to be sitting much. I also purchased a rechargeable headlight with battery-operated taillight, I used to use a USB rechargeable taillight, but you couldn't charge it when on the bike, and the rechargeable taillight only gave me two hours of light anyway, so I went to a battery powered taillight. The first one used "AA" batteries and would last all Summer long, but the one I'm using now uses two CR2032 Three Volt batteries, and I don't know yet how long they'll last. I'd suggest that you buy two tires for it, especially if you're planning a cross country trip (Across the USA), or a long trip, because the rear tire got bald around 300 Miles or so, and even the front one is getting bald at about 400 Miles or so. Since I had 12 flat tires last year, where I used self-sealing tubes, so at least I was able to keep riding, but lost about half of the air before they sealed, and yes, I made sure that whatever object caused the flats wasn't in the tire, and it did take some time between flats, I've decided to pay the extra money for tubeless tires, and found one for around $75.00 or so, so bought two of them and they'll arrive tomorrow, and I'll be trying them out. Also, when shifting to the lowest gear, let go of the shifter right away, otherwise the chain will try to come off. I use a battery bank, placed into one of those cell phone cases for bikes, connected to the headlight to keep the headlight charged up. When shifting to the highest range, I need to make sure that the shifter is fully into the last "notch" so to speak, otherwise it won't shift quite right, so I may need to adjust that a bit, and the same goes for the gears, as it will slip a bit if I don't release the pressure on the shifter right away, so I may need to adjust that a bit also. Oh yes, another thing, I've only had the bike since earlier this year, and the gear numbers are just about gone, and the triangle, or the indicator showing what gear I'm in has faded away completely, so I can't see what gear I'm in, so I need to either shift to the top gear, and then shift down, or remember what gear I'm in, or shift to the lowest gear, by moving the shifter until I hear the click, and then turn the shifter slightly, to see if it clicks again or not, and if not, then I need to let go of the shifter right away, or the chain will try to come off. I do like the bike otherwise, as years ago I used to use a 10-speed because they came up to a 27-inch frame, which I sort of needed, because of being 6-Foot 3-Inches tall. One more concern is though, when the disc brake wears out, so far I haven't found where to get a replacement doing an on-line search, so not sure what to do, unless I can switch the front over to the same brake type as the rear brake.

Read and listen to the bad reviews.
Was an okay ride, while it lasted. Which was only 30min before the rear tire was leaking air. Filled back up to 40psi and the tire popped! We were at the top of a hill, pulling a bike trailer. We are lucky it didn't pop while going down the hill. Made a bad Mother's Day ending.

    Junk
Rode this bike three times. Each time I had to tighten something up since the install folks didnt do the best job putting it together. Third time out the gear slider in the back blew apart wrapped rhe chain into the back wheel. Bikes garbage, put your money towards somethig else.
