Buy extra filament!
I am in love with this 3D pen! I have been wanting to buy one for my kids for a long time. The pen comes with 3 colors of filament. I strongly recommend that you buy a bundle or buy extra right from the start, as you'll use it quickly. It does take some practice but it is lots of fun. The pen itself is large and a little awkward to get used to, especially if you have medium to small hands. It does not get hot on my hand, and has been pretty easy to use overall. My son is on the autism spectrum, and loves all things art-related, and I know he will love this... if I ever give it to him. I do recommend supervision with children, just in case!

Fun once you figure it out
The instructions weren't good and the video isn't captioned so doesn't work for deaf or hearing impaired. The temperature gauge is very difficult to set and the tool to set it isn't going to last. It takes a while to warm up. Don't look to the green light as a guide. It takes longer than when the light quits flashing. It has to be all the way warm before it will feed. And the feed isn't very smooth. The cord interferes with the filament. I had to anchor the cord to keep it out of the way. It's a lot of fun once you get going, and a relaxing craft. It does get fatiguing pressing the feed button. Not ergonomically designed. I'm still trying to make more depth and having a bit of trouble, but that could be my inexperience with this. I'll be playing with it for a while to figure it out. I gave it 3 stars because it's fun once you figure it out. But my opinion, the design could have been better all around. But this is economically priced so if you enjoy it, you may go to a higher end product.

    Big hit with the kids!
This 3D pen came with three color filaments, the power cord and tiny tools for adjusting the heat setting ( which we didn't need to change). This 3D pen was a learning curve if you've never used one before. The instructions came with a tutorial video so that was helpful. My 11 year old son loved learning to use it. He made a few keychains and his name in 3D. It doesn't get hot to hold or touch like a hot glue gun so that was great, easier for the kids to use without fear of them burning themselves. The adjustable speed was nice to have for beginners. The pen size is easy to hold and operate. Loading new color was simple, works allot like a glue gun would. Just takes practice to build in 3D. Was a big hit for the kids to learn and play with.

    Practice Makes Perfect
It took me a solid week to get this together but it's really cool to use. Getting started is pretty easy. With the forward and backward buttons, changing colors takes less than 60 seconds. The biggest hurdle you'll have is figuring out what to make. My daughter and I attempted to make a bridge. Now we just need a better design and more colors!

Addictive Fun in a 3D Pen
This 3D pen is addictive! It's so much fun to play with. It did take me a little while to get used to using it and I'm sure that younger people will get used to it a lot faster. Just be sure to supervise young children because the tip gets really hot. I'm going to order more ABS (the plastic) because I just keep playing with the pen and have just about used up the red, yellow, and blue that comes with the pen. I have seen kits with 24+ colors and there are YouTube videos to demonstrate 3D pens and to give you more ideas.

Not as easy as it looks
This is a really unique way to create but it takes some time to get the hang of it. I found that cardboard was the best surface to work on. My advice would be to look up some videos to watch on how to use it and ideas of what you can create with it. I also learned there are templates you can print to make some really neat things. I wish I had know this prior to starting as we wasted a lot of the filament making silly things. My 13 year old and I stayed busy for hours and plan to purchase a refill kit.

Novelty but not easy to use
I’ve used one of these items at a STEM night at school. This one was easy enough to set up, but it was tricky to control. It’s too big for little kids and I don’t think it would hold interest very long for older kids. I tried using a piece of glass with a pic underneath to trace-but the plastic wouldn’t stick. I ended up just using white paper. I did a few letters flat on the page. If you were patient, you could build up an item 3D. Maybe it would be good for making replacement light sabers for action figures :). Also, because it uses melted ABS, you could possibly use it for repairing Pop up camper roofs made of ABS.

    Read Directions First!
The MYNT3D Super 3D pen is a great toolbox addition for creative artists. It is important to review the instructions (video) to fully grasp the operation of this device. In a nutshell, this device allows you to “draw” in 3D, using melted plastic filament. In order to melt the plastic, the device must be plugged into electricity. On the website, you will find devices that are appropriate for children with safety features so they don’t get burned. Also on the website, you will find ideas of what you can create as well as a list of products you can purchase. The 3D pen comes with 3 colors of filament (yellow, red, and blue). Many other colors can be purchased. In addition, there are spools of PLA filament in aluminum, bronze, copper, and wood colors. The pen’s temperature can be adjusted so that both PLA and ABS filaments can be used. PLA requires a lower temperature (<190C) than the ABS (>190C). The only concern one might have is the availability of filament. At the moment, several products are sold out.
