My 4 year old loves it
Is this like the one we had as kids? Absolutely not, it's smaller and not as bright. Also the little kickstand for it isn't that sturdy so it constantly falls down. But I'm giving it 5 stars because my 4 year old LOVES it and hasn't stopped playing with it since I bought it.

Love the idea
I loved my Lite Brite I had as a kid and I was so excited to receive this one and let my kids play with it. We unpacked it and put new batteries in it and unfortunately it did not work. I was so disappointed. My kids were extremely sad as well. My husband tried to fix it and there was nothing he could do. As a kid I had a Lite Brite and it was one of my favorite childhood toys and mine was much larger. It felt like one of those old Large back TV sets lol. This one was much smaller and comes with a small case to contain the plastic pieces and still has the same outline paper with the patterns to make a shape and see with the light which did not work on mine. Hopefully this was just a fluke and I am sure it was just mine that was a malfunction. If I would have purchased this Lite Brite I would have definitely returned this and exchanged it for a hopefully working one. Disappointed it did not work. Even though it was broken my kids still played with it and actually had fun, it would have been more fun if they could have seen it in it's full effect. I was really looking forward to showing my kids what I used to play with as a child.

    Extremely disappointed
    Received the package in poor condition . The box is bent and looks used. Taped all around. When package was received it was inside a box that was open. Really sad as this was a gift . Back to the store we go!

    Goodtimes for a good price
    Classic toy that my husband and I grew up with! It is still cool to this day. My 3year old and 12year old had a great time with it. There are several templates included. My oldest put a piece of construction paper on it and made her own art. It is so nice to see old toys again! Best part walmart had it on my porch in about 2hrs! We thought it would take a few days. Buy you won't regret it. It will definitely bring back memories and start some new ones.

    I loved playing with this more than my kids! It was easy to put together although my kids have a difficult time opening the storage area that holds the color markers. I like that it includes templates to make different pictures. My five-year-old use this the most and she really liked it except that it was difficult to push in the color markers into the templates. This is definitely a good toy to have on hand in order to get your kids to be more creative and off of the tablets. I am glad that they brought this toy back.

    Didn't work
    I received the lite brite from a review program to use and then leave my honest review on. After receiving the lite brite it takes 3 AA batteries. Upon trying to put batteries in, one of the screws had already been stripped. After I was able to get the screws out and cover off, I installed the 3 batteries, and then the screws didn't want to line up with the holes to put the cover back on. After dealing with that issue we went to turn it on and it didn't work! So I took the cover off again made sure the batteries were in the right way and all the way and they were. It was also a brand new pack of batteries. So I don't know if I just received a defect product or what but we didn't even to use it because it didn't work when we got it. I will say though I love that it has a case for the pegs and you can hook it to the lite brite so they don't get lost as easy.

    Not as I remember
    When I order this light Brite I was so excited taking myself back to my childhood with the big box to plug in, the bright bulb and the black sheets with stenciled out shapes.When I open the box that this package was in I was disappointed because it was so tiny. In the box there is this little 10 x 10” frame with no black sheets so I was like how my going to make designs will the only plus with this is that the sheet is a built in rubber backing that allows you to not have to replace black sheets just plug in the little Pegs and I will light up the color of the peg. This new light Brite requires you to be more artistic to use your own imagination to make your designs there is no cord to plug in it is ran off of three AAA batteries. So for this item I think it something inexpensive that could probably keep kids entertained for about five minutes. I wouldn't recommend this to purchase maybe I'm a little biased thinking back to my childhood and the fun I had with my original light Brite.

    Brings back childhood memories!!
    I received this Basic Fun Lite Brite Magic Screen Retro Style toy and it definitely brought back fun childhood memories of sitting at my parents' dining room table playing for hours. We are really enjoying seeing these "retro" toys coming back into the stores. This Retro Style Lite Brite is so similar to the original I had. It's a bit smaller but still a great size for my kiddos to create lots of great fun designs. There's over 150pc included with this Lite Brite. It includes a nice storage case for all the little pieces and also came with several templates. It takes batteries so it is easy to take along when traveling. This is one of those simple toys that allows for lots of great imaginary fun and hours of creating. Both my daughters have been thoroughly enjoying it. Overall, this is great fun and I would definitely recommend this to others who are looking for fun, creative activities for their children. It might be retro but my children are loving it!!!

    Perfect for Fine Motor Skills
    I have such good memories playing with Lite Bright when I was a child and was excited to play it with my children. The box reminded me of the same box it came in when I was young but of course the Lite Brite the kids found inside the box was much improved. The Lite Brite is lightweight, compact, has built-in peg storage and not only lights up but can flash. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was for my four year old to carry and hold. It's lightweight and compact making it great to travel with and to store easily on a bookshelf. The second thing I was excited to see was that it has built-in storage for the brightly colored pegs. Toys that can store away their own pieces is like the best kind of toy in my opinion. The peg storage not only keeps the colored pegs tidy but the space is large enough for kids to dig in so they are not tempted to just pour the pegs out onto the floor. My daughter has enjoyed playing with it for several days and has yet to dump the pegs. She just digs around for them in the holder. I have to admit we didn't read the directions since it's so easy to just start playing with once you add the batteries. So to our surprise, as we were in a darkened room to see my daughters fun and beautiful flower creation, she realized pushing the on button again makes the light flash. This was so much fun watching her switch between flashing, on and off. Overall, I really like the Lite Brite. It's helping her use her fine motor skills and to be creative and use her imagination too. The quality was better than expected and I was really impressed by the updated design than from I was a kid.

    As great as before
    I received this Lite Brite through the Spark Reviewer program. It basically is the original Lite Brite with some improvement. It is battery operated rather than corded and it is thinner making it easier to store. The lights are stored in a case that slides on the side rather than stored underneath like the original. But the basic idea of use is identical as the ones in the 90's. We love this toy and are happy with the updates.
