Best laptop I have ever owned.
Bought this in July and received less than a week ago. I use it for gaming, photo editing and streaming. Packaging was superb. OMG the Y740 is a thing of beauty. Looks fantastic, runs quiet and well built. Absolutey love the Corsair RGB keyboard. I will be playing with the iCue software for months. I opted for 16 GB ram and the lone SSD. It comes with the adapter to add a 2.5 inch internal drive, I added a 1 TB Samsung 860 EVO. Took less than 10 minutes to install the SSD and be back up and running. Have not done the testing yet, but I think this thing is faster than my desktop. My friend has the Dell G7 and my Y740 whips his Dell in all our testing so far. As of now no issues and is a dream to operate. The only downside for me is it has no card reader and only 3 USB type A ports. It does have a Thunderbolt/USB type C port, although I currently have nothing that supports either of these connectors. So I will continue to use my hub that has all the additional connections I require. My minimum ports are 6 USB, 1sd card reader, and 1 compact flash. Although I don't think any laptop has that many ports. So I can't ding them on the ratings for it. Happy Gaming or what ever you enjoy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Amazing laptop but with poor battery life
The only con that I could find is the battery life, the rest of this laptop is very nice. (BTW, I rated 3 stars because my laptop came with a manufacturing problem on the bottom bezel of the screen, but that could be fixed really quick.)

    Tis Good
Good solid Lenovo construction. Screen is a beauty and the rear ports are perfectly placed.

    TOTALLY WORTH IT!
I was skeptical about Lenovo at first because I have always been an Apple and Dell person but honestly this laptop has beaten them both by how customizable it is. Being able to control the cooling fans and rgb lights is very easy and cool. I've had this laptop for about 6 months now and I have no complaints. Everything is very slim, pretty light weight for a gaming laptop with a lot of power too. The screen is so nice and crisp. I did see some comments on how the screen has a backlight bleed but it's nothing to worry about. At least for me. I don't go crazy and maximize the brightness all day which is bad for any screen. 9.75/10! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Love my new rig!
Lady-gamer and graphic artist here! I am absolutely LOVING my new Lenovo laptop. I love the styling, being sleek and understated and not looking like a, shall we say, transforming robot. After weeks of careful research it came out ahead as the best bang-for-your-buck gaming/performance laptop and it completely lives up to the hype! The only con is the power brick is brutally huge and heavy. I don't expect insane battery life from a gaming laptop so I bought this knowing I'd use it plugged in for games, but most places I would use a laptop (like cafes, airports, hotels) these days have outlets wherever there's wifi. Perhaps a smaller power brick option will be made available down the road, I'd happily buy it. However the battery life is just fine for graphic design work without being plugged in thanks to the power saving secondary gpu! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Very well
I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago and it is beautiful. FPS is high, and if you set the operation mode to quiet, FPS is 10 lower, but temperatures are kept at about 75 degrees [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    work+game=legion y740
y740 design is superb! I like the outsides look a lot! and it works fast too. The screen is very good, suitable for game and work. I find only one minor drawback - it's the webcam position below the screen. Everything else is great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

After waiting for months it was great to have a beast like this at a reasonable price with high specs. Waiting for it was worth it :D. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A SOLID CONTENDER IN IT'S CATEGORY
I purchased this with an RTX 2060 to replace my now ancient 8 year old Sager notebook. It did me well, but the keyboard was dying and I need something reliable to bring with me on TDYs and deployments. I recently sold a GTX 1080 TI desktop that I built, so I have experience with high performance PC's, and enjoy premium tech. I did a lot of research, to include older GTX model notebooks, since I wanted the best bang for my buck. My final decision led me to a Y740 for multiple reasons that I'll share below. I'll start with build quality and design. It's superb. The metal body gives it an expensive and clean look with good feel. It will attract fingerprints and smudges, so have a cleaning cloth nearby, but overall never looks "dirty". The individually lit RGB keyboard, exhaust fans, and logo are a great touch without being too much. It's a gaming notebook with classy looks. Corsair iCUE software takes a minute to figure out but works great. I also appreciate the hard keys for dimming, and even turning off all illumination. Even the rear ports are lit (non-RGB) for easy identification. One thing I did notice is the numerical keys are not evenly lit, but just by a small amount. The symbols are brighter above the numbers. Small nitpick but worth noting. The keys themselves could be a little more clicky, but still have a quality press to them. Not a problem. (During this review, my spacebar started making a squeaking sound when I press it, but only right in the middle. Mildly annoying but I'll have to see if it continues..) The screen is sharp and colorful. 1920 x 1080 is plenty good for it's size, and 144hz with G-SYNC just sweetens the experience. I don't have too much IPS glow or back light bleed on my unit. I do wish the peak brightness was just a little higher. It's plenty for indoors, but if I ever find myself outside it may be desirable. The thin top and side bezels give it a nice modern appeal. I don't use the camera, but I can understand the complaints of it being placed under the screen. I did have initial issues with the sound. The speakers themselves perform well, even in a down-firing arrangement, but I was experiencing bad distortion at around 40 volume and beyond. It was due to the Dolby Atmos software installed. I had to manually tweak the EQ and drop lower frequencies way down to fix it. All is well now. Performance is all I can ask for from a notebook, especially one as thin, light, and portable as this. Booting to Windows takes mere seconds with the PCIe NVMe SSD. I also installed a secondary HDD for media storage, salvaged from my old laptop. The RTX 2060 performs admirably and in my opinion is by far the best bang for your buck out of the options. Since it isn't a Max-Q design, it's power limitations aren't crippled as much as the 2070 or 2080. The biggest benefit of upgrading it is an additional 2GB of VRAM for better visuals, so it's up to you if that makes it worthwhile. I prefer FPS over anything else and usually end up dropping most settings to low. While gaming, it will absolutely get warm to the touch, especially the keyboard. I put the fans to max right before I load a game. They aren't quiet by any means but I'm usually wearing a headset and don't notice anyway. Stock fan speeds in Windows are a total non-issue. Overall very pleased with this purchase. There's other things I could mention but I think this is long enough to get the main positives/negatives out there. If you're looking for Razer performance, build quality, and design without the Razer tax, look no further. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
