Colorful and fun
My 2 yr old absolutely loves using this! He picks this to play with over all his other toys, he enjoys pointing at the animals and the sounds they make. This will be a great learning aid for him to learn his colors and numbers. This push button switch is easy for him to turn on himself and has an auto shutoff when it is left unattended. The hard case is durable, it has withstood being dropped and stood on without cracking. It has a volume adjustment , charging cable - I have only had to charge once and he plays with it several hours at a time.

Dont waste your money, batteries die before the day is even close to being over and the kid will get maybe 30-40 mins of play out of it. Buy them a Rockit Twist, much better.

    Best value on best educational item I've purchased
    Great item! My 4yr old will be going to Pre-K for the 2021-2022 school year and I got it to use over the summer to help prepare him for school. So far he has started to read a few words at a time together with little to no assistance and we've only been using it for a little over 3 weeks now. Amazing for 3 and 4yr olds.

    Lots of help during covid and use it for 3-year-old, con wishes it had Spanish also some of leapfrog other products do sadly this one does not !! Maybe it does after I upload it to pc and personalize it!! leapfrog has a habit of doing that personalized touch type of deal.

    Good item but I think mine was defective
    I really like the premise of leapstart there's a lot packed in the books reward charts fun games and sounds educational helps with hand eye coordination but I'm confused with this item if I got a defective one it came with a charger but it doesn't charge it tells me to replace the batteries so idk what the point of the charger is also the stylis needs to be more user friendly you have to touch the book just the right way to register I even have slight trouble and my son only being 4 has to do tasks over and over to get just the right spot and by then it usually has opted out of the game completely and that causes frustration for him so I never even replaced the batteries because I think it's supposed to charge and makes it more work than actual learning plus the books to get are also really expensive and most of the good books you need the 3d one so maybe spend the extra bucks for that one cause this cheaper one is confusing and idk why it has a charger if it takes batteries that need to be replaced so that's pretty misleading or mine was defective but by the time the batteries ran out i thought it was too late for me to return since I had purchased it for Christmas a bit before so I was a bit disappointed with this one

    A day ago, my review would have been 0 stars if I could. The leapstart I received, would not connect to my computer to download making it unusable. After contact with their support via email, it was concluded it was a faulty product and I needed to exchange. Leapfrog support is fast and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with them. I exchanged yesterday for a new leapstart and it works beautifully. My 4 year old loves it. Honestly, I would give this 4 1/2 stars if I could because I had to disable all my firewalls and anti-virus in order for it to connect to my computer. I have other Leapfrog products and I've never had to do that to make them connect to my computer. But other than those issues, I love this product.

    Awesome Learning Tool!
    I got this leap start for my two year old who is about to start preschool. He is absolutely enamored with it. The wand is very sensitive and perfectly calibrated. The books are well thought out and teach a variety of topics. He absolutely loves it. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone!

    My son is starting preschool this fall and likes playing video games. Seems like this would be a good fit but it doesn't keep his attention. Connecting to the Mac to download the program was overkill. Several steps later including a full system restart didn't seem reasonable for what could easily come pre-loaded. There is a port for headphones which is nice. I think you would need to buy several more books to keep kids interested but they aren't cheap. Seems like a tablet would do all the same things and more.

    My 3 year old son has been using this leap from preschool toy and he seems like using the stencil to click on items. This toy is a great learning toy but I do think you have to help your child interact so the child will want to interact with it. My son always wants to click and doesn't follow instructions but it's a great beginner for kids that are not yet in school.

    The Leap Frog Leap Start Preschool Success kit was a hit with my son. He is three years old and we try to work with him with both his letters and numbers. He seems to have a short attention span when I try and work with him with a book or flash cards, but with the Leap Start it is more like “play” rather than learning to him. The set came with two books, one for math/numbers and one that has a bunch of different activities from the other books for this kit. The Leap Start case folds in half and with a handle makes it easy for him to carry around. It is also compact enough for us to take on the road but would like to find something to place his additional books in when traveling. The Leap Start not only teaches him what he will need for preschool, but it also teaches him pen control (when he needs to trace, etc.). I have already looked for additional books for his age that he may enjoy.
