Coating is peeling after 2 weeks
The product does what it says it does. Great fries and chicken wings BUT after yesterday when I made 2 batches of 3 pounds of wings, the wings stuck to the basket and after soaking in Palmolive Soap with hot water for 2 hours the coating on the basket started to flake off. I am now thinking about bringing it back. It does exactly what I want it to do but if you can' clean it, it is useless. The wings and fries come out super crisp. Wings take 25 minutes for about 3 pounds and shaking the basket every 8-10 minutes or so. Store bought frozen fries come out perfectly crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside after 20 minutes with a shake after 10 minutes. Potato tots come out amazing too. Everyone loved the eggplant I fried. I also made some coated wings with buttermilk then dredged in coating. That took 35 minutes to get perfectly golden brown. That said, I would NOT recommend this because after a short time the basket coating failed. It should have been stainless steel or Teflon.

I'm convinced I needed this in my life
Let's face it. We all weaken at one time or another to the allure of a shiny new kitchen appliance that we saw on a shopping channel or a cooking show or in my case, on Youtube. Ive got a few that I just had to try that are now simply taking up space in the back of a cabinet having been used a few times then never again. I was afraid that was the gloomy future for this air fryer but boy am I glad I was wrong. I bought it simply to make frozen snack foods taste more crispy like they'd been fried without the hassle of deep frying. Mozzarella sticks came out amazing. So did frozen deep fried cheese curds. Eight minutes at 360 degrees with no preheating. And no heating up the entire kitchen using the oven. The I tried seasoned shrimp (wonderful!) and even a marinated ribeye steak. Super tender and juicy. I prefer a little more searing so I probably need to preheat longer before throwing the steak in there, but experimenting is part of the fun. Tonight I dug out a casserole dish that fit inside the basket of the air fryer and did a pasta dish. I had to boil my pasta on the stove first then just mixed the pasta, sauce, tomatoes and some cheese together. Cooked for 12 minutes at 360 then added shredded cheese on top and back in for five minutes and it gave me that perfectly browned gooey cheese layer I look for. The air fryer works by forcing the heat down which can dry out the top of things so its important to stir halfway through. I havent even tried french fries or vegetables in it yet. The booklet that came with it has a few recipes but there are literally thousands online and almost as many step by step videos. Im having lots of fun with this appliance and Im so happy I got the 5.5 liter. Its one of the largest capacity fryers out there. You never see anyone regret getting one thats too big but there are plenty of people who regret getting one too small. For this price, why not?!

    Everyone should have one
I couldn't be happier with this fryer. I use is 3-4 times a week and it has no issues. I haven't tried anything breaded but I use it to cook fish and chicken with some basic rub all the time. I put 4-5 chicken breasts and have it fully cooked in 20 minutes. My main concern with the fryer was that it was going to dry out the meat but it doesn't at all. The food is juicy and tastes great. The only thing I would change about the fryer would be that the inside be non stick. The basket inside is basically just a regular frying pan so you have to scrub it. It's not that much work but if it was nonstick it would be perfect. I would highly recommend this item to everyone. Totally worth the price (which is not that much for a fryer)

    This is the one!
I tested 3 of these. I am keeping this big baby, the biggest one on the market. I watched and bought it on sale. If you keep an eye out you will notice price drops all the time. That is when to buy. I see it's gone up since I purchased it. PRO: It's bigger than most and you can do a tri tip or whole chicken with ease. I cut my chicken in 1/2 so that it would not only cook faster but fit better as well. I like it's NOT digital but you can only do 30 minutes at a time. It's very quiet compared to the other two I tried. No smells either. It turns it's self off which is a huge plus! Impossible to burn stuff. THE DOOR SLIDES IN and OUT CORRECTLY, w/o any problems, some don't. CON: The inside is heat resistant plastic, I tried one with full metal inside (better than plastic in my book), it got hot faster but they all work better if you preheat at least 5 minutes. Not sure it's Teflon but it looks like it and I'd rather have the newer ceramic coating. It's so big you can fit any kind of rack in here to keep your food off the cooking surface. Timer is only 30 minutes long but I have never needed more than 30 minutes, even for 3 large potatoes. It's still a drawback. This thing is huge but do-able even in a smaller kitchen. You can't count on the directions, there are numerous sites online with great directions and advice. Clean it with a soft bristled brush everytime you use it and you and your machine will be a happy camper. You won't be happy if you keep using it w/o cleaning, the non stick coating won't last even one wash. Cleaning it correctly has to be part of the routine. Go easy on the oil, you need only a bit. Oil the food and not the pan and you'll get even better results. Start with a well oiled, frozen chicken breast and you will be sold on this thing! When you start using it go for under-cooked, so much easier to cook a bit more than deal with burned food. This gadget goes fast, a frozen burrito can be done in 5 minutes, with that crisp you never get in a microwave. I love it! Thank you Walmart for the rockin' good price.

    Very Pleased
I bought this from reading these reviews and must agree with everyone who reviewed this well. I have only used it twice making frozen French fries, but they turn out way better than baking them in the oven...my family loves them! The biggest reason I bought this, was for the size. It has the biggest capacity on the market. We had bought and returned a smaller one from Walmart because of the capacity. We are a family of four, with two teenagers and the small one is definitely not large enough. I compared this to a similar one on the market which sells for $120. There are only a few minor variances, which is not the worth the price difference of $35. The other one has a tiny spray bottle for oil, temperature of 400 instead of 390, and a round baking bowl, which I would never use. This is so easy to use! Clean up easy, too. I highly recommend this if you have more than two people in your family.

    Good but basic
The reason we bought this is because everywhere the 3 liter machines were going from $69 to $79. We thought for a few dollars more we can get the 5.5 liter. Its a fine product but very basic. Others we saw had pre-set cooking options and digital displays, this one does not. Also the instruction book is full of grammar errors, misspelled words and the cooking guide is short and with not a lot of information and what information there is does not make sense. We ended going on-line and searched for air fryer recipes and instructions. It will do the job, but do not expect any bells and whistles.

    Great buy!
I am still trying new recipes with my air fryer and jotting down temps and times . I was a little misled .... thinking the food would be done really quickly but most things take 20 to 25 minutes or more..... beside that misunderstanding on my part, I love it..... I use it almost everyday . I love the large basket. I have 4 boys so it comes in very handy. We have tryed a variety of food and it comes out just like it's been fried in oil!!!

    Great purchase!
I researched for days and came across this unit. The size is why I chose this one. I couldn't be happier. Burgers were amazing, no smoky kitchen. Wings are perfect. Husband liked frozen fries in the air fryer better than in oil! Easy to clean and a great price.

    Air fryer 5.5
Used it to fry fish, salmon patties and chicken wings. The best unit I have ever purchased. This machine has a lot of basket room where other machines don't. You can set this air fryer and walk away and it will do all the cooking for you. We have started making our own recipe book with temperture and time cooked.
