Excellent Knife Set!
I was gifted this knife block set for an honest review of the product. This knife block set is amazing! The knives are sharp and there's a built in sharpener which is extremely handy. Aesthetically, the set looks very nice. I like the contrast of the black and stainless knives against the birch wood block. It will easily match any kitchen and décor theme. My cabinets come down rather low, but the knife block still fits under it perfectly and I'm still able to access the knives without having to pull the entire block out.
Additionally, the set comes with a manual that tells you about each knife and how to care and clean them. I found this particularly helpful as I'm not very "kitchen savvy." The set has a variety of different knife types. My son was ecstatic that it includes the 5-inch Santoku knife. It will be his new favorite for cutting vegetables when he makes sushi.
The block set was packaged nicely upon arrival and precautions were taken to make sure the blades were protected in route. I live in a very rural area so we go through a lot of returns due to items being delivered damaged.

Missing all the knives with cracked base
I literally just got this dropped off. I opened the box and there were no knives inside the box! Just the base and it was cracked! Taking this back to Walmart as this is very unacceptable!

The kitchen shears cut through produce and meat with minimal effort. The variety of knives offered in this set is impressive. The steak knives cut with ease and feel nice in your hand. The santoku knife is just the right size for food prep. Clean up was a cinch but I followed the instructions on the box and wash on the top shelf and hand dried everything because this is a set that I want to keep in my kitchen for years to come. The knives are of excellent quality and of a perfect weight. They make chopping and slicing a breeze. And I love how the knife block has the knife sharpener built right in. I haven't had the need to use it yet, but I'll be glad for it when I do. Overall, the knives inside the block have a nice neutral but contemporary look that means you won't mind keeping them out on your countertop. I was gifted this product so I could give an honest review, and I can honestly say that I would recommend these without hesitation!katherine

As I began unpacking these knives I immediately recognized the high quality of the Japanese steel! The knives all have a good weight to them that makes them comfortable to hold and use. The steak knives are great for every day use and will be beautiful set for a special occasion. The utility shears easily handled every task I used them for. The 8 inch chef's knife made quick work of slicing up sweet potatoes, it cut through them like a hot knife through cold butter! The handles are all metal so they will hold up for the long haul. I have had wood handled knives that have had the handle fall apart over time - no concern of that with this set! It says the knives are top rack dishwasher safe, so I gave that a go. They came out of the dishwasher clean and remained sharp! The use and care instruction booklet that was enclosed, was informative and detailed the appropriate use for each type of knife. It also explained how to utilize the built in sharpener. The block is simple, yet elegant enough to look great in any kitchen. The price point for this beautiful knife set makes it a great option for gift giving! I highly recommend this Kitchen Aid knife set! I was gifted this item to provide an honest review.Katharina
