The white color is normal!
The white color is typical and isn’t harmful. I grew up eating dates in California and have eaten them all over the world. Medjool dates are my favorite. They taste like a candy. They’re soft and make a great addition to a banana smoothie. Delget Noor dates are fibrous. They’re okay but I wouldn’t choose them over Medjool. I hope this helps. Don’t panic if you open the pack and they have a white film on them.

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/24/2023Finally!!Finally consistently decent dates. Too many times I have wasted money on the dates in the resealable bag both name brand and store brand to find small dates that are hard as a rock. Never again. I will always by these dates.Judith

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/01/2023⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! White dust not mold. Check out tips ⬇!These dates are always delicous. Sometimes if they are more dry they will have a little bit of a white dusting on them. That is not mold! That white dusting is sugar crystals because the date is high in natural sugars and low in moisture. The only time these dates are bad are when there's little black powder (black mold) on the inside like where the pit was. It will taste gross if you bite into the date then you'll see the black powder when you look. I only remember this happening to me with like 4 individual dates ever, and we've bought countless packages of these Great Value Medjool Dates over the years. Probably over 50 packages, maybe even over 100 or more? lol love these dates. The other time they might go bad is if they're more wet vs being more dry and you leave them out at room temperature for too long of a time then they'll start to ferment and taste like alcohol. If you're not someone who goes theough dates quickly you might have a better time leaving them in the fridge to make sure they don't ferment. I've personally never had a ferment issue with these Great Value ones though while I have with other brands and I leave them out at room tempature, but I eat dates pretty regularly. They sometimes taste like the sweetness of halloween candycorn. Very sweetksm520

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/14/2022Sweet and Chewy DatesThese dates are the perfect balance of sweet and chewy. No, it is not molded, that is called a sugar bloom. I have a crazy sweet tooth, and this is the perfect snack to combat this issue!David

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/28/2022AmazingI am so happy Walmart carries these. They are so good (like all dates, if eating them straight they are at their best when chilled). The review that said they were moldy obviously doesn't know anything about dates! Thats crystalized date sugar and its the best part!Carrie
