Just about perfect!
This is the cutest little easel you can find. It's the ideal size for a 4 to 9 year old (our daughter is a tall 6.5 year old and she's got some room to grow on the highest setting). It's sturdy without being too hefty or unwieldy, and it folds up flat enough to make sliding under a bed or slipping into a nook pretty easy. Assembly was also a relative cinch. Everything you need comes in the package -- and it took my daughter and I less than 20 minutes to put together. The brightly colored "bolts" are such a nice touch. The chalk- and white boards are pretty high quality and don't seem like the type that will gather grit and sludge from repeated use. Thorough cleanings are also pretty straightforward. The trays are pretty large and should be able to hold any arty items your kids might need. One note, they don't have covers so you'll need to unpack them after each use as items might fall out while folding and storing. Opening and closing will require some adult assistance as it is a bigger easel and securing the latch (to make sure it's tight and in the right position) will need dexterity that young children might not yet have. As mentioned, it's sturdy and the wood seems decent, but it's not so tough as to be able to take a pounding or withstand being knocked over so making sure it's stored away makes sense. In terms of use, our daughter absolutely loves using it -- and it's already come in handy for drawing, playing games, handwriting ... and it's miraculous how much more fun it is for her to paint larger pieces. It's almost a must have for early learns and those into painting.

Very Disappointed
Normally Melissa and Doug products are great. I've never had a poor experience until now. Received this as a gift. First time my 4 year old had a real chance to use it it got knocked over and one of the legs snapped in half and the basket broke off. The legs seem as though they are made of balsa wood. Not sure how long this would have lasted anyway. Guess we will never know. I'll definitely be sharing my dissatisfaction of this product with others.

    Do. Not. Buy.
The screws they provided are too short to build the easel, and the material is flimsy and cheap. Save your money, don't buy this!

    A must-have for creative households
We're big fans of this easel - sturdy setup, nice to have the chalkboard/paint option at the same time for multiple kids in the family to enjoy, and the paint cups are great for preventing spills. This is the second household of grandchildren that we have bought the easel for, and they become such beloved items that last for years.

I would not buy it again.
I bought two for Easter, with all the accessories. When using the Melissa and Doug dry erase blue marker on one of them it stained the white board right away and would not wipe or wash off no matter what we did. We have no issues with the other one doing that. For the price and cost of the accessories I'm disappointed, I may have to buy another and hope for the best.

I would definitely buy this again
My son loves his new easel! It has been great for painting/ art projects. Now that we have to homeschool, it is also great for him to practice his letters, numbers and shapes. Great multi-use easel for almost all ages! Even my 12 year old likes to use it sometimes! FYI: Not hard to assemble, but DO pay close attention to the instructions when assembling.

I would not buy this product again
We purchased this easel as an Easter present for my three year old daughter. Upon opening the box everything looked great and it smelled like fresh wood; however, once I began assembling it I realized how poorly crafted and packaged the item was. To begin, the long bolts for the easel paper reel were about half an inch too short. (See picture below). After attempting and reattempting many times, I looked online and it seems this is a common trend with this easel. The chalk arrived dirty and the white was broken and the dry erase marker was completely smashed and therefore dried out. (See pictures below) It is quite an expensive easel to have so many defects. Given that this was the main part of my daughter's Easter, I got creative and assembled it using different parts from home. All of the predrilled holes seem slightly off and the bolt lengths are off. The "eight easy steps" were very misleading. Future tip, adding some color to the directions would have been very helpful! We are usually huge fans of Melissa and Doug. As a early primary aged teacher, I use and recommend a ton of their materials to families and colleagues. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of this item.

I would not buy this product again
I normally do not write reviews, however, I bought this easel last week for my daughter's birthday (now tomorrow) and the the bottom screws for both sides do not fit. I have switched boards and tried to loosen and tighten screws and bolts up to try to have things line up. Now my daughter's birthday gift will not be a birthday gift, merely with stuff that doesn't fit together...Highly disappointed. This picture is as close as I can get this together.
