I'm deployed and the rules are no refridgerators in the rooms they provide us to live in during the deployement. So this was a great way to have something in my room to keep drinks cold. thanks for providing a means of getting this great little cooler. thanks again

Just OK
The reason for my rating of fair has much to do with my expectations. I read all of the reviews before purchasing, many of which stated how pleased the buyer was with the unit. I have three girls that play travel softball and we are forever going to a softball tournament out of town. I had hoped that the unit would keep our bottled water and gatorade really cold (the pamphlet said 40 degrees) after cooling the unit down the night before. When I put it in the car and used the car charger after cooling it down, it was pretty cold and I was pleased. I also chilled the drinks the night before. However, it only took opening the cooler once or twice to let the cool air out and the unit was unable to efficiently keep our drinks cold. I will have to return to my trusty low-tech cooler with ice for the drinks. I may put lunch meat, bread, and condiments in the Colemen PowerChill since I only will need to open it once or twice, unlike the ice chest that is frequently opened in order to retrieve our drinks.

Saves me money time and my waistline
I drive a truck and this cooler is saving me money by allowing me to have food and drink on hand so I'm not at the mercy of truck stops. I carry muscle milks for breakfast bottled water bag salads grapes and meat and cheese. This also helps me keep my weight in check.

    Work's Great!
So far so good. I tested it on a couple day trip and it worked great. Items in the cooler were kept nice and cold. I paired this with a Jackery power station to keep it powered even when the vehicle is off. It appears to be well made. I have a Coleman camping stove that is about 40 years old and still works, so the brand is tried and true. I'm planning a cross country drive in the fall and that's where I will really put it to the test.

    Can't go wrong.
I'm a trucker driver that depends on a cooler to keep my food fresh. This is my second cooler, the first one lasted 3 years. I run it 24/7..3 yrs of service for $100 you can't go wrong.

    Awesome
We have been traveling full-time now for almost five years. We have always used a cooler, and ice. Constantly having to run into the nearest town to get ice. Our Solar got upgraded so we treated ourselves to the Coleman iceless cooler for Christmas. We couldn't be happier. This cooler has been amazing. We don't have to run into town every two days anymore. It has kept everything we have put in it. Thank you Coleman this is perfect for us ❤️

    better than soggy sandwiches
My summary refers to the fact that this item does not need ice consequently contents don't get wet. This replaces one I had for 20 years and finally quit. I could not find a replacement thermal unit so bought a new cooler. This one has the A/C adapter so can use indoors and in the car. When traveling, I take it inside and plug into wall socket at night. This one does not have the reversible connector on the wire so will not run as a warmer. I never used the warmer function on the old one so will not miss it. I have only had this one week so do not know how long it will last. I have run it for 4 days and it works fine. It cools to almost 40 degrees below outside temp so have to be careful if surrounding temps get low - contents might freeze. Actually it holds internal temp pretty good over night when NOT plugged in. I use an indoor/outdoor temp gauge with a thin wire to the outdoor probe to monitor the temps. The outdoor probe goes inside the cooler.

A cooler, not an ice chest
Thermoelectric refrigeration works, but it is not very robust. A thermoelectric cooler uses a solid state cooling panel made of two dissimilar metals which will produce a cooling effect on one side, and heat on the other, when current is applied. It is the reverse of a theromcouple. While these devices will cool, they will only pull down temperature to about 35-40 degrees below ambient. This means, if it is 75 degrees, it may pull down to 35-40 degrees. However, if it 105 degrees (a hot day, or in a hot car) the coolest it will get is about 75 degrees. Understand this before buying any thermoelectric refrigeration device. The other half of the equation is that these devices do not have a large cooling capacity. When EMPTY, it takes about three hours for them to reach their coldest temperature. If you try to fill one of these with warm beer or soda and then plug it in, it likely will never cool down (or take days to do so). So, if you use one of these coolers, make sure what you are putting into it, is already cold. This also means you need to leave it plugged in all the time, or it won't stay cold. Unlike compression refrigeration (as in your home refrigerator) these units won't "pull down" to temperature rapidly. Again, understand this before buying any thermoelectric refrigeration device. The unit does use a bit of power, so if you leave it plugged into your car for a few hours, it may drain the battery. Again, this is common to ALL thermoelectric refrigeration devices - not a specific criticism of this unit. As thermoelectric refrigerators go, this unit is attractively priced, a decent size, and has many useful features. - the door may be reversed to open left or right size (screwdriver required to switch the latch). - the unit may be operated as a chest, or as an upright refrigerator-like cooler. - the unit comes with a shelf for use in both upright and chest modes. - the unit comes with a 110V power supply that the 12V power cord plugs into. - the unit has a power cord storage area that works fairly well. - the unit has a long power cord. Again, taking into account the nature of thermoelectric refrigeration, this is a very attractively priced unit with many nice features. However, before buying any thermoelectric device, be sure to understand how they work.

    Great cooler!
As a dedicated route driver I don't have time to stop and get ice for the cooler. This cooler doesn't require any ice, just plug into a 12 volt outlet in your vehicle. I had used the previous Coleman model for many years while driving over the road and replaced the motor in that one about every 18-24 months (it ran 24/7). Not being able to get that motor anymore it became necessary to upgrade to the new model. These coolers are rugged and very dependable! It is necessary to pre-cool this unit, especially during hot weather, to get the temperature down so what is put inside will remain cool. The instructions state a 3 hour pre-cool time however it could be more depending on the outside temperature. It comes with a voltage adapter so it can be pre-cooled using household current prior to loading into your vehicle.

    Great Product!
We purchased this cooler for, and just got back from, a 16 day family vacation across the Desert Southwest and California. We used it to keep various lunch meats, drinks and cheese fresh for daily lunch picnics. Our trip included a daylight drive through the heart of Death Valley (I think that is about as severe a test as it can get) and multiple days in the deserts of West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Everything we took stayed fresh and cold. Several people have posted that it drains batteries rather fast. I was careful to unplug the cooler anytime we stopped for more than 30 minutes or so but one time I accidentally left it plugged in for about 4 hours. My van started with no problem. One hotel we used did not provide a refrigerator so the AC power cord was a great bonus. If you are looking for thermoelectric cooler, you should give this Coleman a serious look; it has worked great for us!

    Love it!
I got this powered ice chest about 5-6 years ago and have used it about 12 times a year, sometimes for a week or more. It finally bit the dust just as I was starting my last trip. I went ahead and threw in some freezer packs since the trip would only take one day and when we reached our destination, I got online and ordered another for site-to-store purchase. I love it! No ice, no mess, just put drinks, snacks, fruit, etc. in and plug it into the cigarette lighter and go. It even comes with an ac-dc converter for use in the house for parties or condos/hotels when traveling. It's light enough for me to lift in and out of our van and carry for a short distance (20 feet) and I am a 65+ female not in particularly good shape.
