Bought two these before a lake Texoma trip used them with live bait landed a lot fish in the three to fifteen lb. range and they both held up great. I would say they rank right there with the AB-5500 and 6500 and the price is un beatable

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser03/24/2021Kind of sorryPut new line on it used one time tip broke off the pole just hauling it home. Had 6 other fishing poles in the back of the truck and they didnt break. Reel dont seem to bad but hard to turn it down enough to cast big river weights. Still using it with broke tip will be fine for catching catfish off the bank.Trey

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser09/04/2020Great Budget ComboI bought this rod and loved it. I'm new to cat fishing and so the price was perfect for me to give it a go. I decided to buy a 2nd but it had a loose gear in the reel causing the guide and clicker to not work so it will be returned and I'll be getting a new replacement. I would recommend this combo to anyone on a budget FOR SURE.Michelle

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/28/2020Honest reviewOk here it goes. If your looking for top of the line, keep looking. These work, the rods are a little more sensitive and not a stiff as you would normally pair a reel like this to. The reels have plastic gears so as long as you dont crank down the drag all the way and horse all your fish in they will last awhile, but not forever. These are for the catfishermen who want something they dont mind breaking that they can throw in the trunk or behind the seat in the truck. Something that when you hook into a 40 pound flathead and snaps the rod you dont have to figure out what bill your going to postpone paying. This is the rod you buy when youve fished with spinning reels your whole life but you see your buddies bringing out their Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs and want to see if you can fish with one of those baitcasters too but dont want to drop $200 on a single rod and reel. They dont come prespooled with line like they advertise but if your serious about fishing your going to strip the line off anyways so you can put your preference on. All in all they are worth the $35. Makes a great truck rod, or a combo to give to your friend who wants to come fishing but forgot his rod. Dont expect to get a professional bass combo or a high dollar catfish combo because this isnt it. You can tell its a $40 rod when you handle it but it brings in fish so who cares right??Unknown

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/04/2020Got what I paid for.Has all the options of the big boys with about half the price. The rod itself seems a little small/light to be paired with what should be a heavy reel. But definitely got what I paid for. Would recommend.John
