Fun in a small package
I'm a Casio keyboard fan who performs on a Privia PX 360. I bought this little CT-S300 a week ago because it looked fun. And it is. I paid $150, the asking price of all the major, reputable online keyboard sellers, and the price you or anybody else gets with a simple Google or Amazon search from those who have it in stock. This keyboard is very portable, runs on batteries if you need, and has 400 different tones of varying quality. The piano tones are decent even though they are not Casio Privia quality. The speakers are adequate, although the tones sound much better through a sound system. It's touch sensitive, has full size keys and also has a neat sustain button if you don't want to plug in a pedal. You can easily shift the keyboard pitch up or down from 1 to 12 notes, a full octave, which is really useful for playing songs as they were originally written. It's built tough, too. Casio clearly designed and built this to carry around, for mobility. If you want to sit on the couch, or in bed, or somewhere outdoors, and play the keyboard, this is a good choice for those things. I really like this keyboard for those kinds of things, too, and I already use it a lot. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Now for the important caveat: To piano learners and newbies, this cannot be the instrument on which you learn to play. It is not a piano and could never substitute for a piano or for a pricier keyboard like the Privias. The keys on this keyboard are not weighted. They actually have no weight. If you play this for a couple of hours and then play an acoustic piano or keyboard with weighted keys, it may well feel like trying to run through a swimming pool. You won't learn proper technique if this is your only keyboard, and your skills won't be transferable. Now, I don't see this as a criticism of the keyboard itself. I don't know how Casio or any other keyboard maker could put weighted keys on something that weighs 7 pounds and is this compact. This is what it is, a totally fun and good sounding, portable keyboard. But, it's no substitute for the real thing, or for a keyboard with weighted keys. I could never recommend that anybody buy this as their primary instrument. Again, that's not a criticism of this keyboard or Casio; it's just a fact. If you need a keyboard on which to learn, you really need to look at the Privia line of keyboards, which start in price at about $500 or maybe even a little more. It's clearly more money, but you won't regret it.

    Great beginner keyboard/piano
I am senior lady, very bored with all the social distancing and lack of things to do since covid started in march. I was very active, and being with nothing to do literally from one day to the other, I was looking for something to keep my brain active. I decided to learn the piano. I did a lot of research to know what to buy...there are so many keyboards on the market. I bought this casio for different reasons. 1) it's affordable. If I don't continue this, I did not loose too much money.2) I just wanted the piano feature, not all the different music/sounds that you can get. It still has all the features, but the piano sound is pretty realistic, and the keyboard is still very slim in build, which makes it look better.3) Touch sensitive keys helps me to learn the finger work without having to put a lot of strength in the finger yet. ( it is hard enough when you are a beginner). 4) It is very light and Casio is known to be a good brand. I am very happy with my buy, and am surprised how much easier it is to learn, compare to when I was 9 years old, when my mother made me learn it.... I hated it, and didn't continue then. All in all, I think it is a great buy for beginners. If I like playing, I can always buy something more adequate for intermediate/advanced player later on .

Good action and size, Lousy speakers and sounds
Casiotone CT-S300. Wanted to give it a 3 star rating but realized I was being too critical for the price point and it's reason for being. Great form factor, it and the Go Piano/Keys are the only boards I know of that are this light and not deep (less than 11"), which means it's a great lap keyboard and travel keyboard. The action is pretty decent for entry level, very playable The price at $150 is attractive I imagine it's an excellent iOS keyboard, which makes up for its lousy sounds - The sound output from it's 5 watts total speakers is abysmal - The sounds are atrocious. To be fair I haven't heard them thru a good speaker or headphones yet, but still- I can usually tell decent sounds even from my smartphone speakers. I've had quite a few Casios over the years and this reeks of their worst offerings, and not even a decent piano. The organs and clav are not bad though. But when you have 1 layer sounds, this is what you get. Playing amplified, I typically got good bass response, but from middle C on up you could barely hear the notes compared to the bass. But- you pair this with an ipad and some decent speakers and this board with it's small form factor and decent action could be a winner. For me though I can't wait to return it and try out the Roland Go Piano or Go Keys, both of which are over twice the price. But from the reviews it sounds like the onboard speakers are at least decent and not outright BAD, and the sounds are coming from pricier models like the DS, so at least decent to very good sounds. And, it has the same tiny, light form factor with 61 full size keys. I do plan on using an iPad sometimes, but for the most partGo I'd really like to just sit down, watch a movie, run my keyboard on batteries, and have the sound and keybed be good enough for couch practice with no other wires involved. The Casiotone CT-S300 fails at that, but for what it is at its price point, it gets a lot right.

    Good buy for the price
I'm a beginner, and pretty happy with the purchase so far. The model has weighted keys, and I like the textured keys feel. It came along with a power supply and a music stand.

    Great portable keyboard incredible value.
I also have a Yamaha s80 with weighted keys which costs 10 times more than this keyboard, but my kids just love this keyboard. So portable and light with excellent sound quality. Incredible value for what you get. I love it.
