Perfect Shelving Unit for Assisted Living
I saw this shelf in the store and thought it would be perfect for my dad's new assisted living apartment. It's fairly "low end" furniture (particle board and plastic dowels) but it seemed sturdy enough and was the perfect size and design for his needs. I ordered to be shipped and then started reading more recent reviews about damaged boxes, missing parts and poor materials. I was concerned that we would have to return the product but I was pleasantly surprised. Though the box was a little damage (from trekking to NH from CA), none of the materials were damaged. All of the parts were there and everything was well marked. The instructions were excellent and my husband and I had this assembled in less than an hour. A few touch-ups with a black sharpie to cover some very minor scratches and the shelf is perfect! I would definitely buy again for the price.

Piece of junk/wrong color
The color isn't described properly. It says natural wood and it's grey. Broke as soon as we put it together. Now to rerun it I need to find a box thats 60” because I threw the box out right away. What a disaster. Don't but this product. I will no longer be buying large items from Walmart. They send me $20 to buy a box but where will I find a box to fit an item so long!

    I wouldnt pair it with 13 by 13 inch storage bins
    great looking shelf but it says it fits 13 by 13 inch storage bins. Well they fit so famn snug that you have to shimmy them in and out. I can already imagine the edges of the fabric storage bins getting frayed and worn. Also theyll end up ruining the finish on the white shelf.

    Go with a different brand
    Arrived damaged, cheap particle board. Does not hold intended weight (we have a lot of heavy board books). Held together with cheap plastic rods (see pics)

    Not a great color match
    For its intended purpose, it will be ok, but I'm really disappointed in the color. I would never call this natural - call it weathered, call it gray - but not natural. (In case the text on the pic is too small: The advertised color is in the circle - an actual shelf on the left, next to the box.)

    Wouldnt order again
    Out of the box you can see black marks on the slab and paint already missing on other pieces. Now I'm supposed to pack it back up and drag this to a store with my bad knee to get a refund. I had it shipped for a reason Wal-Mart. Apparently you don't think of things like that.

    Cheaply-made copies of what used to be quality.
    Horrible!! I have the original style shelves and love them. These are horrible, cheaply-made, and are in NO WAY the same or of the same quality as the older style. I bought the new ones because I can't get the originals and I'm very, VERY disappointed in them. Even when taking the pieces out of the box I could tell it was cheaply-made as they were much lighter than the originals. The assembly was much faster because there isn't as much detail put into it there either. And they're NOT EVEN THE SAME SIZE!! I've attached a photo to show how awful they are. The two sets of shelves on the bottom and the ones standing upright on the ends (cut out of the photo 'cause it's hard to get them all in frame) are the original BHG shelves. The four on top are the new ones. They're smaller in length AND width! They don't match-up on size and you can see how they're not even straight -- gaps in between the shelves and that HUGE space between the sets -- makes for a horrible aesthetic. They're embarrassing. If I weren't on such a budget I'd have bought the Ikea Kallax had I known these were such cheap knock-offs!! I will NEVER buy these again!!

    Wow so sturdy and looks great! Bright white exactly as I wanted it. All the wood pieces were not chipped at all. It's easy to put together. It's definitely worth the price ! I would 100% recommend. It def looks like it can support heavy items since the wood is not flimsy at all.

    These are the best!
    I love Better Homes & Gardens storage organizers! They are heavy duty, not flimsy or wobbly, strong and durable. I own one in Espresso and Tobacco Oak. The Tobacco Oak color is a multi color, which I love. Its easier to change up your decor color over time, if desired, when you have furniture pieces that flow well with multiple colors. Like the tobacco oak color. Any color cubes or decor you want to use, will compliment this piece nicely. The 8-cube size can be stood tall or layed out the long way east to west to use as a TV stand or whatever you want! I have one standing upright in my dining room, and one laying the long way in my living room so I can put holiday decor across the length on the top area. You won't regret buying this! I like the different color cube options too, so I can change the feel of the room during different seasons. See picture for the up close color of Tobacco Oak.

    Nice Organizer-Easy Build:-)
    First I wanted to mention that it arrived with a fist sized hole in the side of the box. That is a Shipper issue, Not a Product issue. But here's why I even bother to mention it. This piece of furniture came packed in a Sturdy box Inside of another Sturdy box, the point being; there was No damage to the product. Unpacking was a breeze. My pictures are purely utilitarian in nature because your house is going to be different colors than mine and you will put different pieces in your organizer than I will. I got the Dark Tobacco shade for my purposes and I really like it. For me it's going to be a few books along with grandchildren's console games and movies. It comes with a tie down strap to keep it upright when little ones are around which is a nice safety feature. You or I don't have to go to the hardware store and buy one on our own. This was truly one of the easiest furniture builds I have ever done and I was able to accomplish it by myself. Now I didn't get it done in the 1 hour mentioned in the instructions but it was less than 2 because I take breaks and a casual approach to these type of projects. I made the mistake of building mine on the hardwood floor without anything under it so I did scratch the floor a little; just keep that in mind if you also have hardwood floors. The only, only Knock I had with this was the 8 hex screws for the Top and Bottom panels. I will Never understand why these decorative and small functional furniture makers Cannot put some Phillips or Flat Head screws into their offerings. I'll tell you right now that you might as well have a socket wrench that will hold a hex head tip because you are never going to get those 8 screws in with that little L shaped so called tool that is included. Other than that 1 gripe I will tell you that this is a Really Nice looking and Sturdy piece to decorate and store in. I Highly Recommend it!
