Delicious and gluten free
My best friend was so excited when I invited her over to my house for a pasta dinner. She has been gluten free for years but hasn't had gluten free pasta in a long time. I served the rotini with sautéed Kale tossed in a mix of homemade tomato auce and store bought pesto sauce and the bold flavors tasted so good with the pasta! We were in heaven. We both agreed that the texture was better than other gluten free pastas. I really think that it's just as good as any wheat pasta. I can't wait to eat my second box of Chickpea Rotini, maybe this time with some veggie "meats" and broccoli! I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

Delicious, but beware!
I really live this pasta. It tastes delicious and I love that it's a healthier alternative to regular pasta! I eat it all the time. Recently, I bought a box from Publix and got an unpleasant surprise. There were bugs in the box! I know bad things can happen and maybe this is just a rare occurrence, but I am scared to buy this pasta again.

We never tried non-wheat pasta before, so we were a bit cautious about trying the Red Lentil Penne. Took the time to carefully cook according to directions, and then had the penne as a side dish to pork roast and pot roast. Used some olive oil with simmered garlic as a pasta dressing. We were surprised at the texture - firmer than al-dente, but not hard and dried out, just a bit more chewy. Taste was unexpectedly good. Not that lentils have much flavor to begin with, but the penne and sauce went together well and had a pleasant flavor. I always think twice about "health food" as I've been exposed to healthy foods that have had textures and flavors that I really disliked. The taste is just like regular pasta and the texture is almost the same. I have made a homemade "hamburger helper" type dinner with it and it came out quite good. I have also just served it as a side dish with butter and parm and that was nice as well. A few people have tried it as well and all said it was just as good as regular pasta. An important factor about this product is it has 11 grams of protein per box. The pasta cooked up well in less than 10 minutes. I completed the pasta with some homemade sauce, tomatoes, and some seasonings. My family enjoyed eating something different. It's difficult to find products my whole family likes , but this one was a hit. I will be purchasing more during my next big grocery shopping visit. It becomes more noticeable the more you eat. This would be better with stronger flavors like garlic or pesto. We cooked the chickpea rotini pasta longer than the red lentil pasta that we tried first. However, there's still a noticeable textural difference. I appreciate that Barilla Chickpea Pasta has one ingredient: chickpea flour, is gluten free, comes in minimal, recyclable packaging, and is a good source of protein and fiber.
