Great carving knife to cut bread or cakes :)
I purchased this knife primarily for cutting bread as we bake fresh bread quite frequently. This knife allows me to cut the bread evenly with desired thickness. The trigger lock is particularly safe especially while replacing the blade while it is still connected to prevent any accidental cuts. Replacing the blade is pretty simple and straight forward with just a push of a button. Cleaning the twin blades and it's functional design is quite simple and efficient. I have not used it for cutting the meat but have no reservations that it will not work. Highly recommend it!!!!

    Black and Decter multi-purpose carving knife!
    This is actually my third black and decker electric knife ! The only reason this is my third is because I moved and didn't take my old one with me. I'm embarrassed to say that I've used over the years for many other things other than cutting meat. It also cut foam.! I'm sure not an approved use, but I have 4 “ bed topper. That was just a bit too long for my bed, made a marking line, making several passes through the layers that is perfect!

    Great for cakes and other baked goods!
    I usually bake a lot of cakes with my family and it has usually been difficult to cut multiple layers in the many cakes we bake. With this electric carving knife, we hoped that it would allow for more uniform and consistent cuts, and indeed that was the result! I definitely recommend it :-]

    This knife cuts very well. I had an older version of this knife from 40 years ago that did not vibrate the way this one does, but it does cut well.

    Not worth it.
    I see several reviews stating good for slicing bread. Well that must be all it is good for! It sure isn't strong enough to cut meat! I bought three to give as Christmas gifts and used one myself when I baked a ham. It wasn't sharp enough to thin slice a ham. I immediately called the customer service number. He told me to take the blades from the other gift to see if they were were sharp enough. Nope! So all three going back to Walmart!

    Flimsy blades
    Black and Decker has been known for its durability and effectiveness over the years, not so much in the electric knife department apparently though. The blades are really flimsy, it cuts pretty fast and well, as long as what you're cutting is fairly soft.

    Noisy and useless
    Ok, so I bake breads and I thought it would help me cutting the bread to nice and even slices, save some time in slicing, BUT, It makes lots of noise and does nothing! It is not strong or fast. It is useless!
