Powerful and Quiet
I live in Florida and this unit cools the room fast, too powerful for a 240 sq ft room so I have a good problem. Also about the noise, I work from home and keep unit 10 ft away from the phone on the lowest setting and people can't hear it. No complaints

Hose is way too short
Absolutely infuriated with this purchase. Do not buy if you live in a below ground apartment with higher windows. The hose is so short I cant even install the unit. Now I have to return this huge thing.

    Adequate performance, good looks
Maybe all portable air conditioners suffer from this, but for my next purchase, I will be looking for one in which the exhaust hose actually can attach to both the unit and the vent piece easily and securely. The unit works ok and cools one average size room (I think my high ceilings affect performance despite keeping my ceiling fan running) but it has to stay on 24/7. If I need to move it or turn unit off and remove exhaust from window (mostly due to wildfire smoke), I have to re-attach the exhaust hose that keeps falling off. I have used duct tapt to secure it because it really doesn't attach well (poor design.) It is otherwise easy to set up and use, but it never cools the room to the temperature I set it at; it does provide relief and makes the room habitable. The caster wheels are also super slippery and the unit will roll around at will. I keep it set on pretty high and can easily sleep with it on, so it is good as far as sound goes, which is good because it has to stay on continuously.

Good in 300sqf or less room
Had this in the living room 500sqf and it was pathetically inadequate basically the only way I felt cool was to point it at me and sit 3 feet from it. totally incapable of cooling that room. Moved to the bedroom 200sqf and its doing a fine job lowering the ambient temp of the room. Its quiet enough to sleep while it's on just a low hum in the background . decent ac for the appropriate size of room.

    Good for 300sqf or less
Laughable performance in my 500sqf open area only way I got cold was to point it at me directly and sit 3 feet away. But it dies a solid job in my 200sqf bedroom with thr door closed. Quiet enough to sleep with it on, low hum in the corner.

    Good, but Large.
Good Unit So far. We use ours in a 435 SF Uninsulated Garage, which is doing double duty as a Telework Office space. The Unit seems to work pretty well, but, the output vents should be larger. We set up a fan in front of it to move more air. This is NOT a miracle machine. On 100 Degree day, I can get the garage down to 89 - 92, but, what helps is the fact that it is pulling some of the humidity out of the air. One of the problems is the fact that it sometimes will shut down because the water tray is full. Not a big deal, really, but, if my unit would have come with the water tube, I would connect it for draining. Otherwise, seems to be working as it should.

Great at keeping a very hot room cool!
It works great in the 300 square foot room I put it in. Keeps it cold. I didnt like the weather strip material that came with it but I just went and bought some so that was an easy fix.

Great Portable A/C - worked for us because of HOA
Picked up this portable A/C for a room in our house that just doesn't cool well like the rest of our house. Set up was easy and we made sure to leave it sitting up right for 24 hours after delivery as the shipping box recommends this as it needs to "settle". Picked this model specifically because it was on the Wirecutter budget pick, but still has great performance. I would agree -- it cools the smaller room we're using it in very well. Remote is handy for turning it off when it gets too cold. We got portable over window because our HOA disallowed window units. It does require the window thing, but it doesn't hang out and was easy to set up and doesn't damage the window.

    Super cool
Runs great and cools well. The only issue we have is that we had to empty the tank earlier than expected. And we didn't even have it operating for full days, consecutively. We even adjusted the temperature, which seemed to be helpful, but it still shut down sooner than expected.

    Deceptive, it's actually 8000 BTU
it's Actually 8000 BTU. the 140000 btu is the Ashrae 128 standard which has been out of use in the United States since 2017. The DOE now sets the standard and for this unit it is actually 8000 BTU. the only spot on Walmart.com that shows this is in the fine print. pretty disappointed and on the fence for returning this. Will be very hard to load and bring back to the store by myself.
