Great Portable A/C - worked for us because of HOA
Picked up this portable A/C for a room in our house that just doesn't cool well like the rest of our house. Set up was easy and we made sure to leave it sitting up right for 24 hours after delivery as the shipping box recommends this as it needs to "settle". Picked this model specifically because it was on the Wirecutter budget pick, but still has great performance. I would agree -- it cools the smaller room we're using it in very well. Remote is handy for turning it off when it gets too cold. We got portable over window because our HOA disallowed window units. It does require the window thing, but it doesn't hang out and was easy to set up and doesn't damage the window.

Hose is way too short
Absolutely infuriated with this purchase. Do not buy if you live in a below ground apartment with higher windows. The hose is so short I cant even install the unit. Now I have to return this huge thing.

I end up choosing this cause at the time of the heat wave my old one went out so. I needed one ASAP me and heat don't mix. within 2 days I received it. I use it in my master bedroom this one is way better than the one i had. It completely keeps my room cool through the day at Comfortable Temperature. I absolutely have no regrets in this purchase and at a good price. I highly recommend. Also read the directions before you use it FYI IT DOES SAY LET IT SET FOR 24 HRS OUT OF THE BOX.MAHG

It's a little noise, due to the size so be prepared for that. Installation was easy, took 15 min to put everything together even tough the gear is super heavy. Having both attached with duct tape it was about 9 inches too small. They should have 3 piece for the slider window. The foam that came with it was too small did not fit either side. The back of the A/C was damaged, the cord was damaged and I refused to accept it. UPS took it back. I am glad that I read previous reviews and that I was home when delivered.rainmkr

One crapped out last summer and now the other one is doing the same thing. They spit water, have to have a constant hose coming out the back into a bucket to drain and frankly they are not that portable. They cooled the room nicely while they worked but now, just eh. I think one is stuck on dehumidify, not sure about the other. It's a lot of money for how long they work. Buy a window unit and thank yourself later.Ashley

It blows out nice cold air, but unfortunately the heat generated by the exhaust and hose that vents the air is greater than the cooling the unit produces. If you can vent the exhaust air directly to the outside with little or no hose inside the area you're trying to cool, the portable might be useful.Amy

When I put the word worked in quotes, I mean that it turned on and air came out. It never really cooled properly at all and the room never went below 80 degrees. The instructions say to let it set 24 hours and it was somewhere around two weeks before I even took it out of the box, so it had nothing to do with getting tossed around in shipping. It then started leaking. I followed the instructions to the letter on draining it, etc. and I never could get it to work again without flooding the floor. I called and they immediately said they would take it back, but I needed to give them the serial number on the front, which I could not see. It was months before I could get someone over due to my health issues and the virus who could read the number. I contacted BSuzeqqu
